Stellaluna

Procedure:

1.  Read the book Stellaluna with a partner. Discuss what character trait this book teaches.

2.  Each student will write a paragraph telling about the important lesson this story teaches. You must have a topic sentence, at least 3 details, and a concluding sentence. When completed, place your paragraph in the center return bin.

3.  With your partner, read the questions on the bat graphic organizer. Now reread the bat notes at the end of the book Stellaluna keeping in mind what questions you will need to answer on your bat organizer.

4.  Write the answers to the questions on the bat graphic organizer in appropriate, 4th grade sentences. Check for proper capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

5.  Cut out your bat and assemble it.

6.  Glue your bat to black construction paper and cut around the shape leaving about ¼” of black paper showing. Look at the model if needed.

7.  Punch a small hole at the top of the bat. Lace a piece of string through the top leaving about a foot of extra string to hang it up with.
