1. Please go to the Hickory Ridge MS athletics website to download all necessary forms for participation. This packet will be made available on the Hickory Ridge MS Athletics (Overview) page. Your address must be in the school district where your child will be participating in athletics.

2. Footballregistration, physical turn-in, and all other paperwork is to be turned in at a meeting scheduled for6:00pm on Tuesday, August 16th at the HiRMS gymnasium.

  • Please stay tuned to the Hickory Ridge MS website during the summer for all updates on practice starting times.

3. Tryouts will begin most likely on Friday Aug.19th 8:00-10:00am, Saturday, Aug. 20th will be 10:00-12:00. All other practices will run 4:15-6:00. Please be at practice 30 minutes early and leave no later than 15 minutes after practice.

4. Each individual must have a recent physical. Physicals are only good for one calendar year. We will accept a physical from any family physician.

5. 8th graders trying out cannot be 15 before August 31.

7th graders trying out cannot be 14 before August 31.

6. Coaches may dismiss players from the team at anytime for not following school rules, coaches’, or teachers’ request.

7. During the school year practice will run Monday - Friday immediately after school. Individuals who cannot have a ride by 6:15pm may be cut from the team. County rules state that coaches may not leave players unattended after practice. Please remember that coaches have families and responsibilities and cannot spend time after practice monitoring your child. Be responsible for picking up players by 6:15 at the very latest. Parents may wish to set up carpooling to make sure your child is picked up at the proper time. Carpooling during tryouts is recommended especially for those parents who have to be at a job site at specific times.

8. Individuals who make the team will be expected to maintain their academics as well as their behavior in the school building.

9. Clothes during try-outs should be shorts, t-shirt, and shoes (cleats are optional). These clothes will get very dirty.

10. The football team may have cuts. Players making the team are not guaranteed any playing time. Playing time will be determined by athletic skills, hustle, attitude, size, speed, and coaches’ discretion. Some players may make the team, but receive little or no playing time. Coaches will not discuss playing time with parents.

11. Parents are responsible for all lost or damaged jerseys and any equipment not turned in by their child.

12. Please do not make vacation plans the week after school (football camps), or the week before school starts (football try-outs begin).
