1.  Job Title: Senior Air Traffic Control Officer (SATCO)

2.  Location: Wick John O’Groats Airport

3.  Reports to: Station Manager

4.  Job Purpose: Overall management of the Air Traffic Services Team at Wick, ATCO training and close liaison with other Aerodrome operating agencies and regulatory authority (SRG)

5.  Job Content - Main Responsibilities

×  Overall management of the Aerodrome Manoeuvring Area and the Air Traffic Control Tower.

×  Maintaining an Air Traffic Service in accordance with current regulations including ensuring that all ATS staff are appropriately licensed, competent and that standards are maintained.

×  Liaison as necessary with SRG, DAP and other regulatory bodies.

×  The management and implementation of safety and ensuring the application of HIAL’s Safety Management Policy and Principles within the ATS section.

×  Ensuring all ATC related incidents are fully investigated.

×  Efficient operation of Met services.

×  Liaison with Air Traffic Engineering.

×  ATC administration including rostering, budgetary advice and delegated financial authority.

×  Assisting with the supervision and oversight of airside activities including the safe organisation of contractors and control of airside works.

×  Day to day management of ATS staff including staff performance development reviews, etc.

×  Maintenance and review of all ATS related documentation including MATS Part 2, MAFIS Part 2, TRUCE Part 2, Unit Training Plan, Aerodrome Manual, and all other relevant publications.

×  Management and coordination of ATS unit training, competency and staff development.

×  Acting as the interface between ATS staff and Aerodrome management.

×  Provide advice and assistance to Head Office staff with the development of ATS services within HIAL.

Qualifications / -  ATCO Licence with ADI and APP ratings issued in accordance with EU 805/2011
-  Meteorological Observers Certificate
-  Good standard of numeracy and literacy
-  Class 3 Aeronautical Medical Certificate
-  English language proficiency certificate at level 5 or above
-  Full Driving License / -  OJTI Certificate
-  SMS Experience
-  LCE Certificate
-  AFISO License
Skills and Abilities / -  Excellent verbal communication skills including the ability to persuade and negotiate, and to chair and represent the Company at internal and external meetings
-  Excellent written communication skills including report writing
-  Ability to remain calm under pressure
-  Able to manage change and adapt to a dynamic working environment

Experience / -  Must have held a ADI/APP Unit Endorsement for at least three years / -  Commercial and GA and military operations

Knowledge / -  Sound working knowledge of relevant ICAO, EU and UK regulatory requirements
-  Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and procedures / -  Working knowledge of flight planning procedures

/ Wick John O’Groats Airport is the most Northerly airport on the British Mainland, and is found in the County of Caithness.
