1 INTRODUCTION

1.1  This Operating Procedure is developed to provide a functional description for the position of Warehouse Assistant at Cornerstone Courier.

1.2  The basic function of the Warehouse Assistant is to assist with the control the movement of inventory and finished goods in, through, and out of the company and to assist the Warehouse Associate/ Branch Manager/General Manager in assigned duties including but not limited to light maintenance on the facility, equipment, and vehicles.

1.3  The Warehouse Assistant will assist, sell, and service the customers of Cornerstone Courier.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

2.1  The Warehouse Assistant reports directly to the Branch Manager/General Manager.

3  REQUIREMENTS

3.1  Required: a High School Diploma

3.2  Required: 2 years Warehouse Technician /Inventory Clerk

3.3  Preferred: 2years Warehouse Technician /Inventory Clerk with logistics experience

3.4  Must be an organized person who has the ability to motivate employees to achieve the goals established by the Branch Manager/General Manager. Must have the ability to create and maintain inventory levels of components.

3.5  The physical requirements consist of walking, turning the head and torso, reaching grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, hands, and fingers. The senses of being able to see, hear, and have full power of speech are required. Lifting: Normal up to 60 lbs

3.6  Must be able to comprehend business math calculations, spatial comprehension. Must be computer literate. Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally in English to interact with clients and employees and write and read reports.

WORKING CONDITONS

4.1  Will work in the shop production area to a office with some noise. Work days will be from 8:00am-5pm per day and Saturday as required and scheduled by the Branch Manager/General Manager. These work days or shifts may vary according to the business demands which may also include weekends and after hours. This is a visible position and proper appearance and professional behavior is required.

4.2  Occasionally this position will be required to go into the yard or out to client’s premises, which may be hot, cold, wet, dirty, and cluttered with machines and materials.

5  AUTHORITY

5.1  The Branch Manager/General Manager shall grant sufficient authority to the Warehouse Assistant to assure the successful completion of all assigned responsibilities and duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Warehouse Assistant include, but are not necessarily limited to:

6.1  Assist with ensuring the profitable operation of the Warehouse /Inventory area & department.

6.2  Maintain a valid and Insurable Drivers License.

6.3  Assuring the security of all physical inventory of the department.

6.4  Assuring the satisfactory and cheerful service to the Sales, Production, and Accounting Office Personnel.

6.5  Assuring the accurate shipping and receiving and product delivery functions and activities.

6.6  Assisting with the timely and accurate entry of all data into the computer if/as required.

6.7  Help maintain control over inventory in the department.

6.8  Assuring parts for inventory are labeled correctly and accurately.

6.9  Assuring the accurate accounting of short, damaged, and missing items.

6.10  Assuring the filing and submittal of all claims for damaged, short, or missing items.

6.11  Assuring that all parts are delivered accurately and in a timely manner.

6.12  Assuring the maintenance of bin/slot locations complete with bar code labels for use of scanners. This will also include maintaining a written layout or drawing of current inventory racking/area.

6.13  Assuring the neat and tidy appearance of the Warehouse/Inventory Area.

6.14  Assuring the enforcement of all company policies and procedures within the department.

6.15  Assuring the maintenance of adequate and proper inventory levels to minimize wait times for sales and production personnel and the Warehouse /Inventory area department.

7  DUTIES The duties of the Warehouse Assistant include, but are not necessarily limited to:

7.1  Return stock as needed.

7.2  Receive sales/stock orders according to policy and procedure.

7.3  Complete and submit timely and accurate freight claims.

7.4  Distribute items to Shipping/Packaging, Delivery Drivers, Salesman, or Production as needed.

7.5  Track items on inventory.

7.6  Inventory and label parts or material onto shelves/racking as needed.

7.7  Enforce company policies and procedures.

7.8  Any other duties the Branch Manager/General Manager may feel it necessary to assign.

7.8.1  Complete repair order to service forklift, vehicles, tools, and other equipment as needed.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

8.1  All departmental employees if required are at work during assigned times and are performing in an acceptable manner.

8.2  Inventory shrinkage is no greater than .25%

8.3  All documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

8.4  The Warehouse /Inventory Area is neat, tidy, and all parts displayed for shipment are clearly identified.

8.5  Good relations are maintained between the Warehouse /Inventory Department and all other departments.

8.6  All Sales Orders have been successfully filled and delivered in the expected time for the customer order.

8.7  All parts have been clearly identified and labeled.

8.8  Transportation of inventory from one building to another is at an efficient and effective manner.

8.9  All returns have been processed and placed back into inventory in a timely and accurate manner.

8.10  Quality Control standards have been followed and quality related returns are less than 5% of the product processed for sales orders.
