5 Financial Statement

Financial Statement is a very important document for COE screening. Please submit the documents that will prove the “Method of support to meet the expenses while in Japan(Section 26 of Application for COE).Supporting documents may be:1)Recent bank statement(more than 1,200,000yen balance for 1 year stay at Kobe University as an exchange student)and copies of recent bank passbook, or 2)certificate of employment of the students’financial supporter plus a certificate of his/her annual income.

8 Application Form for JASSO Scholarship

This scholarship is available for qualified international students accepted by Japanese universities or graduate schools under the student exchange agreement on a short-term basis.

Students will be provided the following amount in Japanese yen:

Monthly stipend:¥80,000 per month(up to 12 months)

This selection is done in two stages. In the first stage, KobeUniversity applies to

JASSO based on the yearly plan of incoming students, and wait for a notice of Scholarship quota.

The second stage involves reviewing and selection of students by Kobe University

from the submitted applications.

Interested students should send the application form for scholarship when applying for

International Student Exchange.

The following is the estimated amount students will need to spend at KobeUniversity per month.

(Provided students will pay regular annual tuition to their home universities)

For Japanese Language Courses:30,000 yen/year
Accommodation / 5,900 yen～37,300 yen/month

-Hankyu line 380 yen/day ×20 days=7,600
-Bus 420 yen/day ×20 days=8,400 yen
“Kaisuken”(a prepaid card/book of ticket that offers a slight discount compared to the regular fare) can be purchased from Hankyu line and the bus
