Assignment #1
Open a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet. There are six cells that you will fill in. Do not include the quotations—just what is inside the quotation marks.
1) In A1 type “the number of sides”
2) In B1 type “ interior sum”
3) In A2 type “n”
4) In B2 type “(n-2)*180”
The next two cells will be the ones you will use to find any sum you want by typing in a new “n”
5) In A3 type the number 3
6) In B3 type “ =(A3-2)*180 “
When you press enter the cell should read 180 since the sum of the angles of a three sided figure is 180.
Now type 5 in A3 and press enter. B3 should read 540 since the sum of the angles of a five sided figure is 540.
You can type in any number into A3, press enter and the B3 will tell you the sum.
Save as “InteriorSum” in your polygon folder.
Assignment #2
In your polygon folder, open “2-WSa-polyAngles.doc” and complete the worksheet. You will need to write the equation first remembering that the sum will change depending on the number of sides. Now solve for x.
Assignment #3
Go to IGO—unit 3 section 4. You need to “save target as” for the lecture (ppt) and the homework into your polygon folder. Open and read the power point notes. On the last slide there is a shortcut to working out example 4: The measure of an interior angle of a regular polygon with 30 sides
The exterior angles and the easiest to work with…. If there are 30 sides then each exterior angle is 12° (360/30). Since interior and exterior angles are supplementary then each interior angle is 168° (180-12). Voila… your are done in two easy steps!
Now you need to do HW3-4.
We will go over Benchmark#2 on Friday.
