6.WHERE FOUNDATION EXCAVATIONS MUST REMAIN OPEN AND ARE SUBJECT TO RAINFALL, THE EXCAVATIONS SHALL BE UNDERCUT AND A 3" THICK MUD MAT OF 2000 PSI CONCRETE SHALL BE PLACED IN THE BOTTOM TO PROTECT THE BEARING SOILS. [ENGINEER-THIS IS NOT APPLICABLE TO GRANULAR SOILS.]

7.BASEMENT WALLS, TRENCH WALLS AND LOADING DOCK WALLS SHALL BE SHORED PRIOR TO BACKFILLING. SHORING SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL CONCRETE FLOOR SLAB IS PLACED AND HAS OBTAINED DESIGN STRENGTH.

8.BACKFILLING AT FOUNDATION WALLS AND PIERS NOT DESIGNED TO RETAIN LATERAL EARTH PRESSURE, SHALL BE PLACED SUCH THAT SYMMETRICAL LOADING IS MAINTAINED ON ALL SIDES.

9.TEMPORARY EARTH SHORING AND UNDERPINNING FOR EXISTING CONSTRUCTION, WHICH IS UNDERCUT FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW FOUNDATIONS, SHALL BE DESIGNED BY A LICENSED ENGINEER EMPLOYED BY THE CONTRACTOR. EARTH SHORING AND UNDERPINNING PLANS SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER AND GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER PRIOR TO EXCAVATION.

10.DEWATERING OF EXCAVATIONS SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDED IN GEOTECHNICAL REPORT.

11.THE OWNERS GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL MONITOR EXCAVATION AND BACKFILLING OPERATIONS TO VERIFY THAT THE DESIGN PARAMETERS LISTED HEREIN ARE OBTAINED DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE ENGINEER SHALL BE NOTIFIED OF DEFICIENCIES PRIOR TO ANY SUBSEQUENT CONSTRUCTION.

12.DRILLED SHAFT FOUNDATIONS SHALL BE DRILLED A MINIMUM OF _____ SHAFT DIAMETERS INTO ROCK AT APPROXIMATELY _____ FEET BELOW GRADE.
