Position:Communications Specialist

Full time, non-exempt

Reports to:President/CEO

Position Summary

The CommunicationsSpecialist works directly under the President/CEO and plays a key role in communications, which will be the majority of the duties including but not limited to maintaining and updating all social media platforms, organizational website, newsletters, blogs, collateral marketing and presentation materials.

The CommunicationsSpecialistwill assist in preparing a master communication strategy along with the President/CEO to effectively communicate the Community Foundation’s mission and enhance the overall community knowledge of the Community Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Become knowledgeable about the products and services offered by the Community Foundationto achieve fluency in written and verbal communications
  • Provide website updates and prepare a monthly website usage report
  • Maintain a non-profit event calendar and coordinate updates for the Community Foundation’s social media outlets
  • Develop and coordinate the creation and distribution of a print and email newsletter
  • Coordinate informational mailings and mailing lists
  • Collaborate with Grants Manager to market grants programs
  • Create and maintain collateral marketing materials and presentations for use by the Community Foundation’s staff
  • Coordinate ordering branded materials
  • Assist in planning and coordinating special events, projects and reports including but not limited to meetings, events and annual report
  • Establish a community presence
  • Under the direction of the President/CEO execute the following marketing and communications objectives:
  • Strategically brand and position the Community Foundation as the credible advocate for philanthropy
  • Help create and execute the Community Foundation’s long term strategic communications plans.
  • Helps create the marketing plan for all the different target groups of the Community Foundation; such as, estate attorneys, investment managers, CPAs and other professional advisors, agencies, and private foundations
  • And any other assigned tasks assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with prospects and existing donors and fundholders; possesses a strong customer service ethic (a service-oriented mindset is critical)
  • Genuine and demonstrated passion for community

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; analytical and conceptual thinking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
