Feng shui
Are you moving into a new house? Do you want to know the best way to set it out? Maybe the Chinese art of feng shui can help. Feng shui, means “wind-water”, is a system designed to help create positive energy. It has been used for millennia in the Orient and it is becoming more and more popular here in the West. Donald Trump, the American real estate developer, uses feng shui masters to design the location of his buildings in Singapore and the Disney Company followed it when planning the gates of Disney World in Hong Kong.
The basic concepts of feng shui are related to the correct passage of energy, indicated by certain guidelines. The Second Commanding Position, for example, states that the bed must be as far away as possible from the door to allow you to feel more control over your life. The Fifth Commanding Position states that there should not be a direct line from the bed to the door, as that affects your energy lines.
As for decoration, the presence of water near your front door is good, but never in the bedroom. Keep the part inside and outside the door clean and uncluttered at all times. The sofas should be oriented towards the east where possible and underneath a window.
Nowadays, in many shops run by Chinese in the West we find statues of the Lucky Cat. Traditionally, the lucky cat is holding a round gold coin. It also has golden bells or other decoration, like a red neck scarf. Red and gold are considered festive colours in Asian cultures, and so give the lucky cat a special energy that people feel attracted to. /
