The method of calculating the Communication availability index is revised and divided into 3 parts as shown above from the month of October 2005.
Method of calculating Communication availability is changed to individual down time, aggregating the total down time then applying the following formula –

Thus the voice (Dialing and express phone) communication between Bhivpuri – Khand – Thokerwadi was disrupted. The P3EO, O3EI, P3EM PCBswere found to be defective. The same were replaced.
2. MAJOR INVESTIGATION & OCCURRENCES: -

3. Fibre Optic connectivity for Ambernath. & Bhivpuri
30 May 06 / Bhivpuri SMS data has been transferred on new Bhivpuri – Khopoli FOX 20 and existing Dharavi – Trombay links.
Party line telephone (hot line) extended from LDD to Bhivpuri on new Bhivpuri – Khopoli FOX 20 links and existing Dharavi – Trombay links.
4. Fibre Optic connectivity for Kalwa
27 - 31 May 06 / The Fiber cable at Tower 77 on Salsette – Kalyan OPGW is rerouted through Kalwa C/R is completed. The 2 nos. FOX 20 equipment has been installed at Kalwa carrier room for establishing new links between Salsette – Kalwa and Kalwa – Kalyan for ABT metering data to Tata LDC and Line protection.
5. Distribution Automation System for Saki, Borivli and Central Mumbai Areas.
May 06 / No further progress.

27 May 06 / Kalwa / The FOX 20 panels earlier working between Trombay MW Central Station to LDC has been installed at Kalwa for establishing links between Salsette – Kalwa and Kalwa – Kalyan.

01 June 06 / Versova / The Versova – Malad Fiber Optic link failed. On investigation it was found that the MULDEX PCB had failed. The same was replaced from Kalwa and the link was restored on the same day.
21 June 06 / Khopoli / Khopoli SMS data to LDC not working. The cable between FX U to SIMPACT was found to be broken.
21 June 06 / Ambernath / Ambernath SMS data to LDC not working due to some lightning.
