3)explaining the social structure and role of slavery, significance of citizenship, and the development of democratic features in the government of the Roman Republic.

4)sequencing events leading to Roman military domination of the Mediterranean basin and Western Europe and the spread of Roman culture in these areas.

5)assessing the impact of military conquests on the army, economy, and social structure of Rome.

6)assessing the roles of Julius and Augustus Caesar in the collapse of the Republic and the rise of imperial monarchs.

7)explaining the economic, social, and political impact of the Pax Romana.

Objectives:

We will describe and explain the Roman Republic’s fall and the rise of the Roman Empire.

Closing Task:
Name TWO impacts of the Pax Romana and WHY they are important. Be sure to explain your reason!
