1.Arlene Is Worried That Her Recent Dream Experiences Indicate That Something Is Wrong

The problem that I am having, the questions 1, 3 ,4 and 4B were rewritten twice, but was returned to me saying I need to make a correction to the comment that is placed on the first paper. This is where I need your help I do not know what else to write!! I have attempted it twice but still have it returned to me. Please read the comment on the first paper that was returned. Let me know if you under what correct need to be made

1.Arlene is worried that her recent dream experiences indicate that something is wrong with her. If you were Arlene’s friend and wanted to reassure her, how would you help her to understand the normal experience of sleep and dreams?

I would help Arlene to understand the normal experience of sleep and dream, first I would explain each stage by letting her know, the normal pattern of sleep passes through five stages of sleep, each with its own brain wave activity. First is the transition from wakefulness to sleep (about 1-7 minutes with theta waves). Stage 2 sleep is deeper is identified by Slower more regular pattern along with interruptions of activity called sleep spindles From stage 2 through stage 4 our bodies are gradually relaxing. About 30 minutes after falling asleep we pass through stage 3 to stage 4 where there are delta waves and it is our deepest sleep. There is a spike in secretion of the growth hormone in stage 4. We then return to stage 2 and enter what is known as rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Here, we dream. The cycle can occur 5-6 times during 8 hours.

Each dream, symbolizes a wish fulfillment. Dreams are symbolic of the imaginary fulfillment of a wish or impulse. The dream images represent the unconscious wish fulfillment theory, because the dreams are threatening to the unconscious awareness, the actual wishes is called the latent content of dreams are disguised. For instance Arlene’s dreams is always struggling with an impossible workload when she dreams, it appears that her dreams mean that she fear exposure, and also show that she feel insecure. The dream scenario that is constructed related to dreamer’s concerns, particular scenario dreamer produces is not random but instead is a clue to the dreamer’s fears, emotion and concerns, which is called Activation-synthesis theory. For instance Arlene’s struggle at work, then dreams she is always at work.

3 How might medication help Arlene?

Medication can help Arlene to improve her ability to fall asleep faster and stay asleep, help with her sleep pattern and break patterns of poor sleep, it can also help her to get some sleep relief, and feel refreshed and ready for a complete day of work. Taking medication will help with relaxing Arlene mind which will help her to not worry about any of her problems.

4.If you were Arlene’s health care provider, how would you advise her to overcome her insomnia?

I would advise Arlene’s to overcoming her insomnia by exercising during the day at least six hours before bed and avoid naps, learn systematic relaxation techniques and biofeedback which can help unwind the day’s stress and tensions. Choose a regular bedtime and stick to it, a schedule helps the internal timing mechanisms regulate the body more effectively. Avoid drinks with caffeine after lunch, beverage such as coffee, tea and some soft drink can linger for as long as 8 to 12 hours after they are consumed. Drink a glass of warm milk at bedtime, this will help because it contains the chemical tryptophan which help individual to fall asleep. Avoid sleeping pills which can do more harm than good because they disrupt the normal sleep cycle.

4B. John’s co-workers seemed very hesitant to “warm up” to John. How would you explain to John their initial reluctance to like him very much?

I would explain to John, their reluctance to like him, because they view individual not in terms of their unique or their personal characteristics. Because of their stereotyped way of thinking, they automatically from some sort of impression of that individual, they are quicker to make judgments about people without knowing them. It will take some time, but the balance will be restored, you will find your role and status in the office groupings, and things will proceed comfortably for all. No matter what they say, people dislike change that they have no control over.
