Ethics Quiz

A LOVE TRAINGLE

1.Analyze the difference between ethics and morals.

  • Morally Tamara doesn’t want to hurt neither one of her friends even though she knows what Janine is doing to Susannah is wrong, but by her not telling Susannah the truth is unethical because Susanna is “supposed” to be her friend.

2.Which ethical theory(ies) are relevant to the situation?

  • It would be Tamara’s duty to tell her friend, Susannah, that he husband is having an affair with Janine.
  • If Susannah were to find out that Janine is the mistress and Tamara knew, then Susannah would be even more frustrated with Tamara because she knew what was going on and did not say anything then that would be consequential.
  • If Susannah does find out that Tamara knew but didn’t tell her, then Tamara’s virtue of being a good friend would be taken away.

3.Whose perspective seems most relevant? Why?

  • Tamara’s perspective seems most relevant because she knows both Susannah and Janine’s situation and it is up to her to figure out if she shouldn’t tell and have a friend who is having an affair with her other friend’s husband and that other friend is going to be miserable, or do tell and be given “thanks for being a good friend” and lose the other friend for snitching on her.

4.Does the thought vs the act philosophy come into play? if so, how?

  • The thought philosophy come into play in this case because Tamara has to critically analysis what she should say to Susannah before she acts upon that thought.

5.What is the role of language, reason, emotion and/or perception in each case study?

  • The role of perception in this case is that Tamara is confused (emotion) on what to do because she is happy that one friend has found “the man of her dreams” and is feeling bad that the other friend is hurting because her happiness, her husband, is being taken away from her.

6.Which Source of Individual Moral Choice and Action would you consult to help address the ethics issue?

7.What would you recommend?

I would recommend that Tamara tell Susannah the truth because Tamara would want to know the truth if she were in Susannah’s position.

A CAMERA IN THE CLASSROOM

1.Analyze the difference between ethics and morals.

  • Morally the students and guardians signed a consent form to helpbenefit for the teacher to improve their teaching skills, and it was only to be used for that purpose. Being that the student’s things were damaged, it is only ethical that the administrator use that camera as evidence since property was damaged.

2.Which ethical theory(ies) are relevant to the situation?

  • It is the administration’s duty to investigate anyone who is responsible to have disrupted of caused harm to the school’s environment.

3.Whose perspective seems most relevant? Why?

  • The administration’s perspective is the most relevant because they are an authoritative figure and they enforce rules.

4.Does the thought vs the act philosophy come into play? if so, how?

  • The act philosophy comes into play because the administrations has to take action into figuring out who did the crime, regardless if the guardians of the students signed a consent form, so there was no time to think about that.

5.What is the role of language, reason, emotion and/or perception in each case study?

  • Reason plays a role in this case because the reason for the administrations disregarding the consent forms that were signed and figure out who caused the crime. That was more important.

6.Which Source of Individual Moral Choice and Action would you consult to help address the ethics issue?

  • I would free willingly check the camera

7.What would you recommend?

I recommend that the camera be checked because nobody is going to snitch about who did the crime when there is clearly an object that holds evidence in the room.
