Kentucky Utility to Build $1.2 Billion Coal Plant

Regulators Approve Utah Power's Plan to Build Plant
The Utah Public Service Commission has given Utah Power permission to proceed with construction of its proposed $330 million Lake Side Power Plant. Located on property formerly owned by Geneva Steel, the power plant will be a 534-megawatt natural-gas fired facility that is expected to enter service in the summer of 2007.

Calif. Power Bottleneck to be Relieved Soon-PG&E
A notorious power transmission bottleneck in central California, which was blamed for causing blackouts during the state's 2000-01 energy crisis, is set to relieved soon with upgrade work ahead of schedule, a Pacific Gas and Electric spokesman said on Monday. By the middle of December this line will be up and running. Path 15, the key transmission link between northern and southern California, will be able to carry an additional 1,500 megawatts following the upgrade, enough electricity for roughly 1.5 million households. It can currently carry about 3,900 MW.

Valero McKee Texas Refinery Had Power Snag Monday
A partial power failure on Monday at Valero Energy Corp.'s McKee refinery in Sunray, Texas, forced some units to shut, according to company filings with Texas regulators.
The refinery is rated at 160,000 barrels per day.

Western Refining Plans $151 Mln El Paso Project
Privately held Western Refining Company LP plans a $151 million construction project at its 107,000 barrel per day (bpd) refinery in El Paso, Texas, that will include conversion to ultra low-sulfur diesel production, a company official said.

Iraq North Oil Exports Cut to Max 200,000 bpd
Flows through Iraq's northern oil export pipeline have fallen to 200,000 barrels per day after a series of sabotage attacks and could remain below capacity for over a month, an oil official said on Tuesday. Iraq was pumping around 500,000 bpd through the northern pipeline to Turkey earlier this month.
