Citizenship of Zimbabwe (Renunciation of Foreign Citizenship) Regulations, 2001

[Supplement to the Zimbabwean Government Gazette dated the 6th July, 2001.]
IT is hereby notified that the Minister of Home Affairs has, in terms of section 22 of the Citizenship of Zimbabwe Act [Chapter 4:01], made the following regulations:—
Title
1.These regulations may be cited as the Citizenship of Zimbabwe (Renunciation of Foreign Citizenship) Regulations, 2001.
Confirmation of renunciation of foreign citizenship
2.Any person who wishes to make a declaration confirming the renunciation of his foreign citizenship for the purposes of section 9 of the Act shall—
(a)make the declaration in the form set out in the Schedule, which he shall swear to before a commissioner of oaths; and
(b)submit the form, duly completed and sworn to, to the Registrar-General, either by delivering it to the office of the Registrar-General at Makombe Building, Harare Street/Herbert Chitepo Avenue, Harare, or by posting it by registered post addressed to the Registrar-General, Private Bag 7734, Causeway.
(c)submit to the Registrar-General with the form—
(i)documentary proof of such renunciation duly authenticated by the relevant foreign government; and
(ii)any valid passport or other travel document issued to him by the government of the foreign country concerned.
Schedule (Sections 2)
FORM OF DECLARATION OF RENUNCIATION OF FOREIGN CITIZENSHIP
WHEREAS I (full name in block capitals) have acquainted myself
with the provisions of the Citizenship of Zimbabwe Act [Chapter 4:01] and in particular section 9 thereof which requires persons who are citizens of Zimbabwe and who are also citizens of one or more foreign countries to renounce such foreign citizenship if they wish to retain their Zimbabwean citizenship, and to make a declaration confirming such renunciation in the form and manner prescribed:
NOW, THEREFORE, I do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare the following:
1.My Zimbabwean identity number is

in (country) on (date of birth).
3.I am a citizen of Zimbabwe by *birth/descent/registration.
4.I was also a citizen or national of (name of country or countries)
by *birth/descent/registration.
5.I am desirous of retaining my status as a citizen of Zimbabwe and accordingly, I confirm, that I did renounce by citizenship of
(name of country or countries) in a form and
manner which is recognized by that country, as will more fully appear from
(state name of document tendered as proof of effective renunciation) which is attached hereto.
6.I further declare that, having renounced my citizenship of
(name of country or countries)
I no longer have any right to claim the protection of that country.
