ZERT Functional Responsibilities

Appendix B.1:  Zone Warden Functional Responsibilities /
Duties: / §  During an event, report to the Floor Reporting Post (FRP)
§  If not on your floor, report to the Floor Warden of the floor you are on and offer assistance; if none is needed follow employee emergency procedures
§  Assist the Floor Warden as needed to determine resources available
§  Assist Floor Warden to maintain order and peace throughout the response
§  Direct floor personnel to follow response type protocols
§  Sweep the assigned zone areas and note the number of personnel not able to comply
§  Report to the Floor Warden on the status of the Elevators, making sure to tape off area to signal “out of service”, “no use”
§  Communicate with Stairwell and Functional Needs Monitors status and report to the Floor Warden
§  Observes First Aid needs of the floor/zone, communicating them to Floor Warden
§  Once zone is clear, communicate all clear back to the Floor Warden
§  Evacuate per direction of the Floor Warden
§  Report to designated evacuation location outside
§  Once HSO clears event, assist in return to work mode
Preparedness / §  Attend response team training
§  Work with the HSO for overall emergency preparedness of their specific floor
Capabilities / §  Lead large groups
§  Work well under emergency situational pressure
§  Make decisions and follow direction
