According to Article 83, Item 3, of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, I hereby issue a
DECREE OF THE PROMULGATION OF THE LAW ON SERBIAN LITERARY COOPERATIVE
The Law on the Serbian Literary Cooperative, passed by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, at the third meeting of the first regular session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 1997, held on May 13th, 1997, is promulgated.

THE LAW ON THE SERBIAN LITERARY COOPERATIVE

Article 1.
The Serbian Literary Cooperative, founded in 1892 as a society whose work, and especially whose publishing of the selected works in the area of cultural creation, contributes to the expansion of general enlightenment and culture of the people, is an independent organization managed by its members.
Article 2.
(1) The Serbian Literary Cooperative has the capacity of a legal person in accordance with this Law and its bylaw.
(2) The head office of the Serbian Literary Cooperative is in Belgrade.
(3) The Serbian Literary Cooperative uses the name and sign established on the occasion of its establishment, which cannot change.
(4) No one can use the name and sign of the Serbian Literary Cooperative without its approval.
Article 3.
The Serbian Literary Cooperative cannot make status changes, nor can it change the form of its organization, or change its goals established by its founding act from 1892.
Article 4.
The Serbian Literary Cooperative is performing tasks and realizing its goals of permanent significance for culture, established by its founding act of April 16th, 1892 in the following manner:
1) Critically prepares editions of our older and contemporary writers and scientists;
2) Publishes selected works in the domain of literature, science, art and other areas of cultural creativity.
3) Publishes translations of literary works with the aim of introducing and expanding the literature of Slavic and other peoples;
4) Helps the development and expansion of folk literature and organizes popular editions of books in this domain;
5) Issues each year the “Kolo” of the Serbian Literary Cooperative, the oldest Serbian literary edition;
6) Also realizes other goals established by the deeds of the Serbian Literary Cooperative.
Article 5.
The Serbian Literary Cooperative provides assets for performing its activities and realizing its goals from:
1) Inputs by its members and subscribers;
2) Incomes originating from performing its activities and sales of its publications, as well as from the publications of other publishers;
3) Endowments and funds, gifts, bequests and donations;
4) Other sources in accordance with the law.
Article 6.
(1) The Bodies of the Serbian Literary Cooperativeare are: Assembly, Board of Directors and Supervising Board, and Director.
(2) Rules and other bylaws of the Serbian Literary Cooperative stipulate in detail the manner of electing its bodies and their competences.
(3) Rules referred to in paragraph 2 of this Article are passed by the Assembly of the Serbian Literary Cooperative, on the motion of the Board of Directors.
Article 7.
The implementation of the provisions of this Law is supervised by the ministry in charge of cultural affairs.
Article 8.
(1) Real estate and other assets disposed with by the Serbian Literary Cooperative on the date of entering into force of the present Law are the property of the Serbian Literary Cooperative and can be used only for the realizations of its goals, in accordance with this Law.
(2) The Serbian Literary Cooperative is obligated to maintain and preserve the real estate referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article.
Article 9.
The Serbian Literary Cooperative will harmonize its organization, work, business and deeds with the provisions of this Law and will register its activity in the court register, within three months from the date this Law enters into force.
Article 10.
This Law shall enter into force on the eighth day from the date of its publishing in the “Official Gazette of Republic of Serbia”
