Youth Sports Championship Series presents the Sixth Annual

Miami Soccer Festival, Nov. 5-6, 2016

(MIAMI, August 2016)–The year-long Youth Sports Championship Series, a series of county-wide sports programs and events designed to optimize the development of young athletes in Miami-Dade County, continues with the fifth annual Miami Soccer Festival, November 7-8, 2015, at Kendall Soccer Park, 8011 SW 127 Avenue, in Miami.

The two-day festival will feature back-to-back FYSA-sanctioned tournaments for children ages 12 and under. All games are open to both boys and girls. Youth soccer leagues made up of children ages U9- U12 will compete for the Mayor’s Cup. Teams play elimination games – two games on Saturday, returning for one game Sunday morning and finals Sunday afternoon. Recreational teams, ages 5-12, play on Sunday. The Mayor’s Cup will be given out on Sunday at 3 p.m. to the winning teams. There also will be competitive games for youth over 12 and adults throughout the weekend.

“Youth sporting events, such as the Miami Soccer Festival, provide opportunities for children to learn and compete in a sport, as well as help in the development of a child’s character,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “When kids are involved in sports, they learn good sportsmanship and discipline, important qualities they will learn and keep into adulthood.”

The event begins each day at 8 a.m. and also will feature entertainment for all ages, including food vendors, a soccer retail village, soccer tricks and juggling demonstrations, music, and more.

Admission for spectators is free. Team registration costs begin at $70 for younger teams, and begin at $225 for older teams and adults. For more information or to register a team, visit call Scott Georgeson at 305-965-9855.
