Selection Process:

  1. Submit application with resume and photo via email or via US Mail to address on reverse.
  2. Interview with the Youth Pastor Search Committee and the Senior Pastor.
  3. Meet with the youth of our church and teach a Bible class and then do a social activity with them.
  4. Meet with our church members and present a sermon/lesson and for a Question & Answer session.

Youth Pastor Job Description:

  1. The youth pastor will be required to undergo a background investigation since he/she will be working with our youth and must pass the same as a condition of employment.
  2. The youth pastor is primarily responsible for the spiritual development and numerical growth of our youth group and ministers to these age groups (13-22): middle school, high school, and college.
  3. The youth pastor is accountable to both the senior pastor (i.e., his/her supervisor) and the local church conference (i.e., his/her employer).
  4. The youth pastor is a part-time employee (i.e., minimum 20 hours) of our local church and would be on contract (annual renewable) for a one year period from the mutually agreed start date.
  5. The youth pastor may hold another job and/or attend college classes during the daytime, Monday thru Friday; but, we ask that he/she be available to minister as youth pastor during theweekdays on late afternoons/early evenings and on the weekends.
  6. The youth pastor is required to be present at all weekly scheduled services (i.e., Sunday School; Sunday Morning Worship; Sunday Evening Worship; Wednesday Bible Study). Theserequired times count as part of the 20 hours you are being paid for and these weekly services usually average about 5 hours total.
  7. The youth pastor is expected to:
  8. Weekly teach the Youth Sunday School Class (9:45am – 10:30am).
  9. Weekly teach the Youth Wednesday Bible Study (7pm – 8pm).
  10. Weekly involve our youth in our Sunday worship services at 10:30am and 6pm (i.e., as singers; musicians, ushers, greeters, etc.).
  11. Weekly organize fun fellowship activities (bowling, putt-putt, roller skating, picnic, pizza & a movie, attending a local high school sports event, etc.).
  12. Monthly conduct a youth service on a Sunday evening where the youth are in charge of the service, display their talents, and lead us in worship.
  13. Monthly organize a special activity (snow-skiing, a day at the water park, theme park, river rafting, attend a Christian concert, etc.) for Christ-centered fun and fellowship.
  14. Quarterly do a service project that blesses our church and/or community and teaches our youth to serve others (i.e., help with the community outreach meal; visit our members who are in nursing homes; do a benevolence drive to raise funds for families in need; etc.).
  15. Annually, plan a very special activity with the youth (i.e., attend a youth conference; go on a summer mission trip; etc.).
  16. Take stewardship over the youth ministry funds. Submit annual allocation requests to our Finance Committee. Augment the youth fund via fundraisers, as necessary.
  17. Organize the youth group into care groups and recruit volunteer assistant leaders to help him/her with the administration and operations of the youth ministry.
  18. Visit the youth regularly outside the church setting (i.e., attend a sports/school event; visit any youth who is in the hospital; accept dinner invitations from youth/parents, etc.).
  19. Optional: Pursue a minister’s license via the Church of God of Prophecy. If you desire to become licensed, then you will become a covenant member of the local church, complete the Youth Pastor-in-Training program; complete the Foundations Course; seek the endorsement of the local conference/senior pastor to be set forth as a lay minister and/or a minister; and successfully appear before the NC Ministry Review Board.

Youth Pastor Benefits (reviewed/adjusted annually):

  1. Allotment is between $1,667 to $2,000/monthly ($20,000 - $24,000/annually) before taxes.
  2. Additionally, a monthly love offering will be received for the youth pastor.
  3. The youth pastor has 5th Sundays off (i.e., one weekend each quarter).
  4. The youth pastor has two weeks vacation during the year.
  5. Bonus Option for single applicants: Live in our fully furnished one bedroom efficiency church apartment (full bath; kitchen/den combo) with basic utilities (local phone, internet, gas, water, electric) at no cost.
