Your Role As a Table Host

Your Role as a Table Host…

Thank you so much for hosting a table at this year’s Young Life Banquet! This important role is critical to helping us share with the community what Young Life is doing in the lives of Louisville teens and gaining support for our work.

This is an annual event where we will have dinner, explain what Young Life is and how it works, have some fun, share the vision of our ministry and some success stories, and offer guests a variety of ways to get involved or partner with us.

As a Table Host your role involves:

  1. Filling a table of 8 people at the banquet. (You can fill more than one if you would like!) This means you are the point person for personally inviting your guests, communicating details to them, confirming their attendance, enjoying the evening with them, and thanking them for coming. This may require a bit of persistence on your part in following up with your invitees to get their response.
  2. Attend one of two “invitation workshops” to hand-write invitations to your guests. A personal touch is critical and we want to help you with that! The Young Life Committee will provide all the necessary stationary for inviting your guests and the postage. You simply need to stop by with the names and addresses of all the guests you are inviting and we will help you fill them out and take care of mailing them for you.

The invitation workshops are held at Christ Church United Methodist on Brownsboro Road (the actual location of the banquet). You can attend either Sept 12 from 6-8pm or Sept 15 from 4-6pm. It is very important that you attend one of these.

  1. Help your guests enjoy the evening: greet them upon arrival, answer questions, introduce them to YL staff and Committee, and collect your table’s response cards at the end of the banquet, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. “Who do I invite?” Think outside the box on this one. Invite your neighbors, your kids’ sports coaches, their orthodontist, teachers, school administrators, your church leaders, your boss at work, the babysitter…anyone who cares about kids and their community!
  2. “Is this a fundraiser and does everyone have to give money to come?” Yes it is a fundraiser, but it is also so much more. It is an opportunity for them to learn about a great organization that is doing wonderful things in the lives of Louisville teens. Please make sure your guests know it is a fundraiser, but there is no requirement or expectation that they give money. There will be an invitation to financially give or sign up to get involved.
  3. “Will there be childcare available at the banquet?” No, we do not provide child care.
  4. “Does it cost anything to be a table host?” No. There is no fee or cost to you. We only ask that you do your best to fill your table.

Thank you again for your partnership!
