HOW TO CREATE DESIRE
Objectives: • To understand how to create desire and develop specific ideas to build desire in the students
Time Required: Part I - 20 minutes
Reports- Allow 2 minutes per team (including time to write "I Likes")
Part II- 5 minutes
Additional Materials Required: One 3 x 5 notecard per student
"I Like... Because" slips
Procedure:
1. Divide the class into teams of four to six people. Select a leader for each team.
2. Read the instructions for Part I A aloud. Allow 3 minutes for this discussion. After three minutes, move the teams
onto Part I B. You may choose to list their responses on the board. Once you have five to seven examples, move
the class onto Part I C by reading the instructions aloud You will want to make sure the teams spend most of their
time on the brainstorming section of Part I C.
3. Allow the teams 10 minutes to brainstorm. When they have been working for eight minutes, announce:
"You have two minutes to finish ... Two Minutes."
4. When the teams have completed Part I, have each team report their ideas for each category. Record these on the
board so they can be seen clearly. You may choose to have the class write "I Likes."
5. Read the instructions for Part II aloud. Hand out the 3 x 5 notecards so that they can write the ideas down on the
card and keep it with them the entire week as a reminder. Allow the student five minutes to complete Part II
individually.
6. End this activity by reading or paraphrasing the following:
"You can "create the desire in others to be better. I challenge you to review the four ideas you have
written on your card daily. In our next class, we will discuss the ways you implemented these ideas."
