Options:
- WRITE YOUR OWN ARTICLE- Find positive, local stories of community, school, or area people, events, etc. Write a newspaper article, complete with pictures, and submit your article (well written, please!) for this assignment. Ex. ‘Cover’ the RoboJags’ success at RIT, who did what, rankings, photos, etc. This has no works cited, no in-text citation. You do, however, need to give credit to the sources you got your info from inside the article. Write at least 8 sentences.
- NEWS YOU CAN USE- Found a good video game or movie review? Found a great new recipe? Found a nice article on how to make better friends in college than you did in high school? Write a review of this helpful information. Your review is basically a summary of the helpful article, but with your opinion added. It still needs a works cited and an in-text citation. Please don’t do ‘naughty’ topics, obviously. You can only do in-print articles from MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS, NOT from ONLINE. Please submit your article.
- QUESTIONAIRE- Answer some questions thoughtfully about an in-print article. You can only do in-print articles from MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS, NOT from ONLINE. Please submit your article to me.
- 21st Century TOPIC- Select a topic/question of interest to you from the list. Find 2 articles on this topic. Read them. Share how your opinion fits with the topic and the two articles. You MAY do ONLINE or PRINTED ARTICLES for this selection, but you must print and hand it in the articles to me.
**Your article topics no longer have to be Economic in nature!
**You may not accumulate any more CE exemptions for 100’s. That’s over now
**Please carefully abide by what articles you can/can not use and what needs to be printed!
**You will find online forms on my GVCS – Mrs. Horne- Social Studies webpage under the “Alright Now…Stay Current” page.
**Your current event online form MUST be complete by the start of class time. No exceptions. Please let me know if you have any technical issues.
**Newspaper and magazine subscriptions have been ordered for your use. Mrs. N. in the library has graciously offered to photocopy any library periodical… provided you ‘order’ it by Thursday afternoon. You need to pick up your copy from her- she won’t deliver it to me Please thank her when you get the chance!
