Job Description
Title: Young Carers Administrator
Hours: 15 hours per week
Office Base: Margaret Powell House, Midsummer Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes MK9 3BN
Responsible To: Young Carers Senior Support worker
Primary Purpose: To assist the Young Carers Team in the day-to-day administration of running the service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Young Carers Team with the planning and preparation of Young Carer clubs, groups, activities and targeted support and awareness sessions.
- Design club, group and activity invitations, organise mail-outs and collate responses.
- Assist the Young Carers Team to organise transport by liaising with volunteer drivers and creating and mailing out a transport list for each driver
- Take the lead in contributing to the Carers MK newsletter.
- Co-ordinate the receipt of referrals and follow up communication with families and professionals.
- Answer telephone enquiries.
- Update and maintain the Young Carers records and data base.
- Produce monitoring statistics as requested.
- Maintain office information, policies and procedures.
- Attend regular supervision and team meetings.
- Undertake training as required.
- Maintain a general understanding of the work of the whole organisation, participating in day-to-day administrative tasks and attending staff meetings.
- Participate in joint activities e.g. AGM, National Carers Week, open days and other promotional activities.
- Contribute to and take part in continuing professional development for all Carers MK staff.
- Contribute towards development of the centres resources and information library for carers.
- To keep accurate records on all aspects of the work for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Produce reports at regular intervals as and when required.
- Represent Carers MK at events and conferences.
- Any other duties as reasonably required by Carers MK.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential
- Good Standard of general education
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own work and complete tasks as directed
- Good spoken and written communication skills
- Knowledge of office-based ICT
- Able to work alone and as a team member
- Able to work positively and co-operatively under pressure
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with young carers, families and professionals
- Good organisational and logistical skills
- Ability to work to processes
- Willingness to undertake appropriate training
- Commitment to Equal Opportunities
Desirable
- Knowledge of Child Protection Procedures
- Ability to be patient, empathetic yet appropriately assertive
- Knowledge of legislation relating to Carers and children’s issues, including Risk assessment.
