2A: Characteristics and Skills

Your Task:

You are to create a PowerPoint presentation of an entrepreneur that was assigned to you.

Your presentation should include the major criteria below:

Slide 1: Introduction

  • Company Name
  • Group members
  • Today’s date

Slide 2: Entrepreneur’s Biography

  • Their first and last name
  • Their date of birth(and death if applicable)
  • Birthplace and/or where they live(d)/work(ed)

Slide 3: Education/Job History

  • Did they attend post-secondary school?If so what did they study?
  • Did they have any prior experiences? Find 1-2 key experiences prior to their invention. (example: James Naismith was a physical education teacher when he invented basketball)

Slides 4-5: Company/Invention They Created

  • Name of company (choose their most popular, if more than one)
  • Are there any co-founders?
  • What consumer needs/wants are being satisfied?
  • What types of products/services are being sold? What are the most popular?
  • Insert picture of company/brandlogo on either slide.

Slide 6-7: Skills and Characteristics

  • List 4 skillsand 4 characteristics this entrepreneur possesses.
  • Explain WHY you believe these skills and characteristics are/were important for their success. Provide evidence.

Slides 8-9: Promotion and Advertisement

  • Who is their target market? (teens, adults, elderly, etc.)
  • What social media sites do they currently advertise on? How many likes, followers for each?
  • What are they currently advertising on their main website?
  • How much do they spend yearly on advertisement? (posters, social media, etc.)
  • Insert an example of their advertising on either slide.

Slides 10-11Competition

  • Identify their major competitors.
  • A “Competitive Advantage” is a term to describe the things that put a company in a favorable position over their competitors. (Example: Coca-Cola’s formula; Disney’s ‘magic’…) How has the business managed to stay successful despite their competitors?
  • A “Unique Selling Proposition” (USP)is the consideration that one’s products/services is different and better than their competitors. How is this evident in your company?

Slides 12-13:Choice

For the next three slides, you have the option to complete two (2) of the following four (4) options:

  • The company’s future plans/next steps (goals, etc.)
  • New products that are being released and prices.
  • Achievements and awards won by the entrepreneur (Forbes, top 100 most influential, etc.).
  • Five interesting facts about the entrepreneur that have not been mentioned above.

PowerPoint Presentation Criteria

  • At least seven (7)pictures present on the PowerPoint.
  • No transitions or animations must be applied. (KISS – Keep It Simple, Silly!)
  • Font size is to be a minimum of 22. (too small is hard to read when projected)
  • Do not use hard-to-read color combinations, (e.g. yellow and green); plan a strong dark/light contrast between your font and background colours
  • Presentation must be professional, neat, and free of spelling.
