2Teaching Duties

You are required to teach all subjects in the Primary age range.

3Professional Duties

You are required to carry out the following professional duties, and other duties which the Headteacher may reasonably direct from time to time.

Teaching(1)

aPlanning and preparing courses and lessons.

bTeaching, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned to you, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupil in school and elsewhere.

cAssessing, recording and reporting on this development, progress and attainment of the pupils.

dSkills in the classroom organisation and management; ability to create an appropriate learning environment in line with the school's policy.

aPromoting the general progress and well being of individual pupils assigned to you.

bMaking records of and reports on the personal and social needs of pupils.

cCommunicating and consulting with the parents of pupils.

dCommunicating and co-operating with professional persons or bodies outside the school.

eAbility to match work with pupils individually and as a group and to provide for individuals within the group including provision for the most and least able.

fSkill in developing initiative and interest in pupils and helping them to become independent learners.

gSkill in using an appropriate range of resources to assist pupils' learning.

hSkill in presenting and displaying pupils' work effectively.

iSkill in using the National Curriculum targets and profile components as they are introduced, and relating them to a broad based curriculum.

Assessments

Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual pupils and groups of pupils, in accordance with school policy and requirements of the National Curriculum.

Participating in any arrangements within an agreed notional framework for the Performance Management of your performance and that of other teachers. The arrangements for appraisal having been mutually agreed.

Educational

Methods(6)

Advising and co-operating with the Headteacher and other teachers (or any one or more of them) on the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching material, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment and pastoral arrangements.

Discipline

Health & Safety(7)

Maintaining reasonable good order and discipline among the pupils and safeguarding their health and safety both when they are authorised to be on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere.

Staff Meetings(8)

Participating in meetings at the school which relate to the curriculum for the school or the administration or organisation of the school, including pastoral arrangements.

Cover(9)

In accordance with the authority's policy on cover, supervising and, as far as practicable, teaching any pupils whose teacher is not available to teach them.

Management(10)

a)Contributing to the progressional development of other teachers and non-teaching staff, including the induction and assessment of new and probationary teachers.

b)Co-ordinating the work of other teachers in a specified area.

c)Taking part, as may be required, in the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum organisation and pastoral functions of the school ie staff curriculum meetings and workshops.

Administration(11)

a)Participating in administrative and organisational tasks related to such duties as are described above, including the management or supervision of persons providing support for the teachers in the school and the ordering and allocation of equipment and materials.

b)Attending assemblies, registering the attendance of pupils and supervising pupils, whether these duties are to be performed before, during, or after school sessions.
