You and Me Pre-School Local Offer.

Aims

The aim of this document is to enable families to see the support that they would receive for their child in our setting. It will provide clear information about what we already have in place to enable each child to achieve to their full potential, as well as offer reassurance in that we value each child as being unique and endeavor to meet their individual needs.

We are an inclusive setting and is committed to providing for each child the best possible environment for learning.

The You and Me Pre-School supports children with a range of educational needs, this enables the child to access all areas of the Early Years Foundation stage.

ADMISSIONS

At The You and Me Pre-School when a parent request a place in our setting we welcome them to visit a session with their child , we also have an induction meeting with committee members and staff for all new parents and carers, and an open day when all the family can visit the setting.

HOW DOES THE YOU AND ME PRE-SCHOOL KNOW IF CHILDREN NEED EXTRA HELP AND WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I THINK MY CHILD MAY HAVE AN EDUCATIONAL NEED OR DISABILITIES.

At the You and Me Pre-School we treat every child as an individual. All children are allocated a Key person who will help them settle in to the group and will be responsible for your child’s development. Through the use of observations and planning next steps we are able to identify any concerns which we will share with you , and with your consent will contact other professionals if required.

If you have any concerns about your child you should speak to your child’s key person, or the Pre-School Manager MrsClare Duncombe.

HOW WILL EARLY YEAR’S STAFF SUPPORT MY CHILD.

Each child has a key person who will work with both you and your child. We use all the information from the welcome packs and all about me sheets to start your child’s early learning journal. The key person will help your child settle into pre-school whilst building up a relationship, understanding their needs, care routines and interests ,This information is obtained through observation and informal chats with parents.

Any concerns throughout the above process are raised initially with the special Education Needs coordinator (SENCo) Mrs Clare Duncombe and Mrs Paula Richmond, who will work closely with your child’s key person to differentiate resources/activities/experiences, adapting and supporting in order for your child to achieve.

If after talking to you we feel additional support is needed the SENCo will liaise with other professionals (with your permission)such as speech and language therapists Early Years Advisory teachers, Health Visitors and Area SENCo to gain further advice in supporting you and your child. All progress will recorded and shared with you .

This process will be monitored, reviewed and evaluated with you and any other professionals on a regular basis.

WHAT SUPPORT WILL THERE BE FOR MY CHILDS OVERALL WELL BEING.

We invite all children to visit pre-school the term before they start which will familiarize your child with the surroundings, and also enable support for your child discussed before they start pre-school.

We use signing to help us communicate with all children. Care routines can be discussed. We are able to administer described medicines once the appropriate forms have been completed, if additional training is required to administer medicines we will undertake this as necessary.

All staff are experienced & qualified practitioners who access training on a regular basis.

The manager has been at the pre-school for over 26 years , other staff have been in child care for many years building up a wealth of experience.

Promoting positive behavior is important to the setting; we will always discuss any behavior concerns with you to maintain a consistent approach between home and the pre-school

SAFETY

The safety of your child is paramount, parents are requested to send in a letter if their child is regular picked up by another member of the family/child minder/friend.(carer).
