Biathle

Biathle is a continuous run / swim / run event organised indoors or outdoors with an indoor swim or open water swim with the run being on a track, grass or road. All competitions are organised according to UIPM rules for Biathle.

Competition Clothing

All competitors must wear tops throughout the whole competition. Female competitors may wear one or two piece swimming costumes or Triathlon suits. Male competitors may also wear triathlon suits, tri tops or tight fitting T-shirts with swimming trunks. Shoes must be worn for the run and will not be allowed for the swim. Elastic laces can be purchased at all Biathle Competitions and training events run by PentathlonGB. Elastic laces help to speed up transitions!

Transition Area

A transition area will be provided inside the last 50 metres of the first run, in which competitors must remove their shoes (and socks if worn). A pre-assigned transition box will be available in this area for each competitor’s shoes, goggles etc. Swim caps may be worn for the swim and the run, but any item that is discarded must be placed into the pre-assigned box. Any athlete disposing of or handing over any item during the race will incur a 10 second time penalty to be added upon crossing the finish line.
