Our Artistic Policy

The Art House provides Time, Space and Support for artists to develop their work and connect with audiences.

We do this through:

  • Providing affordable and accessible studios for artists
  • Residencies and artist commissions
  • Artist Mentoring, focused on artist development
  • Artist-led sharing of best practice
  • Physical and virtual exhibitions, workshops and events

Our artistic programme is as much about giving artists opportunities to develop their practice, explore and experiment as it is about exhibiting finished work. Although we have some showing space, we are not a gallery: first and foremost we are focused on supporting artists, exploring the process of making good art and artists’ practice.

We have a legacy of working with - and providing support for - disabled artists: it's where we started and equality is something we are really passionate about. We work hard to make sure that ALL artists have access to our services. We have evolved to be an organisation working towards equal access for artists, focussed onidentifying, highlighting andremovingphysical, philosophical, educational, social and economic barriers for Visual Artists.
