Module 1: Origins and Philosophy of Yoga / 1.1  Demonstrate an understanding of the origins and philosophy
of yoga thought the centuries.
1.2 Demonstrate an understanding of the Eight Limbs of Ashtanga yoga
1.3 Distinguish among the four types of yoga, to find the practice most suited to their personality:
Module 2: Living Ethically through the Yamas and Niyamas / 2.1 Apply their understanding of the Yamas and Niyamas to their daily lives
2.2 Compare and contrast cross cultural beliefs and practices of the Yamas and Niyamas
2.3 Create a safe and nourishing personal space for yoga and reflection
2.4 Apply the principles of the Yamas and Niyamas to daily eating habits and posture practice
Module 3: Proper Breathing and Asana Practice / 3.1 Demonstrate and understanding of foundational asanas and the qualities of the natural breath, the full yogic breath and asana breathing (empowered thoracic breathing)
3.2 Distinguish between the full yogic breath and empowered thoracic breathing
3.3 Demonstrate an understanding of basic anatomy and physiology of the body
3.4 Demonstrate an understanding of alignment principles through proper execution of postures, individually and in pairs.
Module 4: Yoga and Healthy Eating / 4.1 Demonstrate an understanding of the factors that influence what we eat.
4.2 Demonstrate an understanding of eastern dietary patterns and the philosophies that support them, for example yogic diet and Ayurveda
4.3 Demonstrate an understanding of western dietary patterns, such as Canada’s Food Guide, local foods, whole foods choices and the rationale behind them
4.4 identify factors that influence body image and strategies that strengthen it
Module 5: Empowering Personal Choice / 5.1 utilize concentration and meditation techniques to discover the witness, observe thoughts, and manage intense emotions
5.2 Apply stress management skills to everyday life
5.3 Demonstrate an understanding of the science of energy, the mind/body connection and factors that influence it
5.4 Recognize and acknowledge the existence of the Koshas and how they can support empowered life choices and encourage respectful behaviour
Module 6: Personal Growth (self) and Relationships (others) / 6.1 Recognize the value of a lifelong commitment to personal self-care through exercise, proper nutrition and conscious living
6.2 Compare and contrast values and practices that support a yogic way of life in relation to positive self-identity and sexuality
6.3 Apply knowledge and skills from the practice of yoga to relationships and personal choices within everyday life
6.4 Investigate an aspect of the practice of yoga that interests them and present their research to peers.
