YHC CAB is currently searching for the 2014-2015 Committee Chair & Co-Chairs!

CAB will be going through major changes during the next academic year, and we need YOUR help to make it happen! CAB will be spreading its wings to provide a more diversified and intentional programming model. Our primary goals for the 2014-2015 academic year are inter-campus collaboration and reaching all interest types through our programming.

In this packet, you will find the newly created committees & positions available. Here are the expectations & requirements to apply for a CAB Committee Chair or Co-Chair position:

  • Time Commitment:
  • Attendance at Fall Training prior to Welcome Back Week (flexible with athlete/RA/Fall OL Training Schedules)
  • Attendance at weekly board meeting
  • Committee Events (mandatory, vary based on committee goals)
  • Attendance at other CAB events (highly encouraged, but flexible)
  • Role Modeling:
  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA to hold a Committee Chair/Co-Chair Position
  • Must be in good conduct standing with the institution
  • (“good standing” defined as student not on probationary status)
  • Enthusiasm & Work Ethic:
  • CAB is meant to be a fun group. Positive attitude & sense of humor required!
  • Must be able to follow through on expectations & work with a team
  • Previous Experience:
  • Preference will be given to students that have previously held positions within CAB. However, due to some newly created committees – all are eligible to apply!
  • Any previous event planning experience makes for a strong candidate

Turn in all Applications to Ashley Randall, Director of Campus Activities in the Office of Student Development (2nd Floor of Pruitt-Barrett) by Friday, February 28th.

Interviews will be conducted by our 2014-2015 Executive Council during the month of March. You will be contacted after February 28th for an interview time.

CAB Committees

Community Outreach Committee

The purpose of the Community Outreach Committee is to provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to interact with the local community and showcase efforts in concern of the welfare of others.

Ideas and IssuesCommittee

The Ideas and Issues Committee is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating educational and awareness programs. This includes, but is not limited to, lectures, social and diversity issues, alcohol awareness week, cultural issues, or other health related campaigns, etc.

Entertainment and Arts Committee

The Entertainment and Arts Committee is responsible for providing programming that allows students to both perform and appreciate creative expression while enjoying the company of their peers. This includes but is not limited to movie showcases, musical performers, poetry readings, comedians, and other types of variety acts.

Recreational ActivitiesCommittee

The Recreational Activities Committee provides hands on, goal oriented experiences for students that occur both on and off campus. Both individual and group events will be coordinated.

Spirit Committee

The Spirit Committee promotes Mountain Lion pride throughout the campus community by providing programming that will attract audiences to various sporting events throughout the academic year.

“Tech Crew”

The “Tech Crew” is responsible for the coordination of staff for setup of all sound, movie projection, basic stage lighting and band equipment. Commitment includes all events sponsored by student organizations and campus departments that request assistance with Sound.

Available Positions

The Community Outreach Chair:

  • Directly responsible for the planning & implementation of “Fall Fest”
  • Responsible for coordinating General Member involvement & Co-Chair tasks within Committee

The Community Outreach Co-Chair:

  • Student Liasion for YHC SERVE Committee. Assist with planning & implementation of monthly Service Event
  • Assists Committee Chair with all tasks as assigned

The Ideas and Issues Chair:

  • Coordinates week long educational campaigns throughout each semester
  • Responsible for coordinating General Member involvement & Co-Chair Tasks within Committee

The Ideas and Issues Co-Chair:

  • Assists with the development of an educational plan for each week long campaign hosted by committee
  • Completes all tasks as assigned by Committee Chair

The Entertainment and Arts Committee Chair:

  • Responsible for the Coordination of Springfest
  • Responsible for coordinating General Member involvement & Co-Chair tasks within Committee
  • *Must be available to attend NACA South Conference October 10th-12th 2014. *

The Entertainment and Arts Co-Chair:

  • Responsible for the coordination of once a month “Coffeehouse” Series
  • Assists Committee Chair with all tasks as assigned

The Recreational Activities Chair:

  • Serves as student liaison on YHC Outdoor Adventures Committee & assists with event planning and implementation
  • Responsible for coordinating General Member involvement & Co-Chair tasks within Committee

The Recreational Activities Co-Chair:

  • Serves as the student liaison to YHC Intramural Committee and works to plan and implement one single-date Intramural Competition per month.
  • Assists Committee Chair with all tasks as assigned

The Spirit Committee Chair

  • Coordination of Student Organization Competition for Homecoming (Fall) & YHC Purple Out (Spring)
  • Responsible for coordinating General Member involvement & Co-Chair tasks within Committee

The Spirit Committee Co-Chair:

  • Directly coordinates “boosting” of two athletic/club sport events per month.
  • Assists Committee Chair with all tasks as assigned

Technical Coordinator

  • The Sound and Lighting Technician must have a good working knowledge of proper sound equipment set up and be able to facilitate sound checks for all events.
  • Responsible for managing the “Tech Crew” and assigning staff on each date formally requested

General Membership

General Members requirements & responsibilities are different than that of committee chairs & co-chairs. We will accept General Member Applications for the 2014-2015 academic year, but we will not reach out with committee assignments until after our Chair & Co-Chairs have been selected.
