Answer to you questions.

Yes the cable on russia water has been recovered, but not by us, that is

why we dont report it. We was convinced that Russia had report that to

you.

The reason that the position is little different is that the position is

were the cableship was when the cable end was on board the ship, because

when we are picking up cable we drag the ship along the cable and in this

case, the cable end was cut and has moved because we are dragging in it,

so the ship was not in the right position that we have get from the

Russian colleagues. The hole cable was recovered.

We did not think of this because we do so every time when we are working

with cable recovery, that was the only point in the operation that the

cable was cut.

If you have any more questions dont hesitate to ask

Subject: C/S Pleijel cable recovery works in the Gulf of Finland

Dear Captain Bertilsson,

Thank you for the information about the recovered cable in the Gulf of Finland. However we still have 3 questions:

1. According to our colleagues from St. Petersburg, Russia the same cable has been recovered also in the Gulf of Narva, between following points:

a) 59° 30.51’N 028° 04.41’E (shore point on Russian territory)

b) 59° 42.40’N 026° 46.00’E (point on Estonian-Russian sea border)

Please let us know if this is true?

2. In your e-mail (15.12.2011) you mention that the starting point of your cable recovery works is 59° 42.40’N 026° 25.84’E.

On our charts the cable location in this area is 59° 44.25’N 026° 25.44’E.

Has there been a mistake with coordinates or was the cable actually in a different location?

3. What has become of this cable between points?

a) 59° 42.40’N 026° 46.00’E (point on Estonian-Russian sea border)

b) 59° 42.40’N 026° 25.84’E (C/S Pleijel „start point“)

Swedish cable ship C/S Pleijel

Good morning

We will start the scrap cable recover operation around the 22 october 2011 and calculate the operation to take approximate 15 days in good weather.

The exact time of the start of the operation will we notify you at a later date.

The starting point is the boarder between Estonia and Russia at 59° 42´ N 026° 48´ E and the end point is 59° 40´ N 024° 14´ E.

The hole cable is about 150 km but all of the cable can’t be removed due to crossing of cable still in use.

We would appreciate if you could send out a navigation warning of this and ask ships to keep well clear of us.

After the end of the operation we will send you a notice and were the cable will be left and unrecoverable.

Don’t hesitate to ask if you want more information.
