TEACHING/LEARNING ACTIVITIES
Ask the class to sit in a circle. Explain that when we sit in a circle we have some special rules, the Ground Rules. Outline the Ground Rules e.g. take turns to talk, listen to the person talking, think about other people’s feelings, do not repeat other people’s stories and do not use other people’s names when telling your story.
Also ask ‘what happens if I am worried about someone’ and ‘who will I talk to, for example, the Head Teacher.
MAIN TEACHING AND LEARNING
Activity 1 - Show and Tell
Ask the children to collect objects for show and tell. Sit in circle and take it in turns to show objects and tell others about the object and what they like doing in their free time. You could create an inner circle to speed up the activity.
Activity 2 - Circle Game
As the class to sit in circle. Take it in turns to look at the person sitting next to you and say
‘I know you, you are ….and you like…..’ e.g. ‘I know you, you are Fred and you like football’.
