First Workgroup Single Pass Colour Laser Printer Offers a Complete Solution

for Graphic Arts and Production Environments

Bourne End, UK, 6 September 2001 – Xerox OPB (Office Printing Business) Europe announces the first workgroup single pass colour laser printer, the Xerox Phaser 7700. The Phaser 7700 is an A3 printer capable of exceptional colour quality as well as phenomenal speeds of 22 ppm (pages per minute) in colour and monochrome. These advancements are a result of single pass technology, which enables the printer to deposit all four toner colours in one pass, rather than the four required for traditional colour laser printers. The introduction of the Phaser 7700 demonstrates Xerox’s on-going commitment to developing leading-edge printing technology.

In addition to speeds more than three times faster than other tabloid colour laser printers, the Phaser 7700 supports media sizes from 101 x 152 mm to 304 x 457 mm. The printer comes equipped with sRGB colour matching, ICC and ICM support, TekColor Dynamic Colour Correction, ColorSync, Adobe PS Level 3 and Pantone certification. Additionally, Xerox developed PhaserMatch colour management software designed specifically for this product. PhaserMatch ICC 7700 works with Mac OS or Windows and provides increased control over colour reproduction by creating custom colour profiles that accurately match the colours of printing presses and other output devices.

“This advancement in laser printing validates Xerox's commitment to developing new and superior colour technologies for our customers,” said Job Rombout, A3 Colour Business Manager, Xerox Office Printing Business, Europe. “The Phaser 7700 combines high performance and print quality to offer an unprecedented solution for graphic arts and production users.”

In addition to colour quality and performance, the Phaser 7700 provides outstanding media flexibility. The printer has A3 full bleed capabilities, auto-duplexing as standard and an optional finisher/stacker for maximum output flexibility. Auto colour and paper calibration provide consistent and accurate imaging, with 1200 dpi for fine-line detail and photographic images. Also, the Phaser 7700 comes equipped with a powerful G4-class 500 MHz processor that allows for a fast first page out time of less than 13 seconds in colour and 10 seconds in black-and-white.

The printer includes CentreWare Web, an advanced enterprise-wide printer management tool that enables the easy installation, configuration and troubleshooting of all printers on a network, as well as CentreWare IS, an embedded Web server that allows for remote printer management via any Web browser. As a leader in web-based printer management software, Xerox has made CentreWare IS a standard feature on its network printers since 1995. Also, Intelligent Ready software enables the printer to automatically adapt to the office workflow and virtually eliminates warm-up time.

The Phaser 7700 features 10/100 Base T Ethernet standard and 128 MB of standard memory, expandable to a maximum 512 MB. The printer comes with one-year onsite service and in addition, Xerox offer telephone and online customer support.

The Phaser 7700 is available immediately worldwide through resellers and dealers.
