YOUTH PROGRAM COORDINATOR
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title:Youth Program Coordinator
Location Base:Wyndham
Reporting to:Chairperson, Wyndham Youth Aboriginal Corporation
Subordinates:Youth Workers, Trainees and Volunteers
Contract Period:6 months, 30th June 2018 (expected new 3year funding)
Hours per week:38 hours per week
Working hours:Flexible work hours are required, to enable the oversight of non-businesshour’s activities.
Salary Package:Wage component between $85,000-$95,000 per annum
dependant on experience
9.5% Superannuation
Relocation expenses to and from Wyndham
Rent Allowance
6 weeks leave
10 days sick leave per annum

Primary purpose of the job:
Establish and develop an innovative youth program that incorporates case management, mental health/early intervention, youth activities and agency coordination.
Specific duties:
- Coordinate mental health/intervention services provided by Boab Health as part of this program.
- As part of a K team work with Edith Cowan University on the scoping of research and project developments involving youth.
- Develop and implement a case management framework to focus on supporting and nurturing identified vulnerable youth or youth in crisis.
- Develop a youth focused activityprogram that introduces activities and programs that will assist youth to develop life-skills, job-ready skills, personal safety and self-confidence.
- Supervise Youth Worker Trainees and support their self-development, training and attendance.
- Work collaboratively with Prime Minister & Cabinet (PM&C) to establish and facilitate a local Reference Advisory Group (local agencies) and a Youth Committee.
- Prepare an Annual Youth Activity Plan that responds to identified need and establishes a reporting framework for managing KPI’s and Client Management.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1.Demonstrated experience in a youth focused or social services role.
2.Demonstrate experience in facilitating access to external professional counselling and psychological services.
3.Minimum of Degree level in a Human Services field.
4.An understanding of case management practices within the social services or community services sector.
5.Open or C class license is mandatory.
6.Ability to obtain a WA Police Clearance and Working With Children’s Check.
Desirable Criteria
1.Demonstrated understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people living in remote communities.
2.Experience working within the Indigenous client sector.
3.Previous experience supervising staff or trainees in undertaking a variety of activities.
