Position Descriptions:
Scholarships are dependant upon money raised during our annual Light-a-thon. Some positions are paid work study not scholarship, based on seniority. Many of these positions also have “assistants.” Those not chosen to be directors may be asked if they would like to be an assistant. Those who are not directors or assistants may be able to get CSER credit for being a member of a department “staff.”
Music Director
Organizes our music rotation and keeps track of our music computer and music collection. Needs to have a diverse knowledge of Christian Music and a willingness to stay informed of changes in the industry. This position is a somewhat time consuming.
Promotions Director (one assistant would be assigned as Public Relations Director)
Is responsible for all in-station promotions such as station-sponsored events, on-air promotions and give-a-ways. For example, the promotions director would organize contests and remotes from on campus events. This position is somewhat time consuming and is recommended to individuals with an interest in music and a basic knowledge of the radio industry.
Production Director
Is responsible for producing station sweepers, spots and other on-air audio. This person will also be responsible for maintaining our automation system.
Office Manager
Is responsible for corresponding with listeners and keeping track of our Light-a-thon fundraiser information. Should have knowledge of Excel, Access and other basic Microsoft Office programs. The Office Manager usually also serves as our Community Affairs Director. (See Below)
Community Affairs(PSA) Director
Is responsible for Public Service Announcements and Community Affairs programming which includes organizing the audio PSA rotation and our live read PSAs. This is a very important position inside the structure of the station in order to fulfill FCC requirements.
News Director
Is responsible for various aspects of our News Department including the training of newscasters and assigning stories to news staff.
Chief Announcer/Program Director
Is responsible for the quality control of DJs and the mentorship of new board ops. Also has organizational responsibilities related to on-air broadcasting and is responsible for communication within the station, including logs and spot rotation.
Sports Director
Organizes the Sports Department including shift and board operator assignment.
Sales Director
Is responsible for sales of station underwriting.
Social Media Director
Assists the station manager in coordinating and maintaining the station’s social media.
Chaplain
Is responsible for devotions at station meetings and for organizing our prayer list.
Student Engineer
Will work under the Staff Engineer in the technical aspects of the station... a great position for someone with an interest in learning the ins and outs of radio equipment.
