Bahkan is a small state (country) with a population of 3,500,000 who recently gained her independence from Penland. It was peaceful, but under Penland’s old leadership which no longer exists. The majority of the population is Bahkanians, however, over 30 other nationalities (ethnicities and country backgrounds) live in your territory. Your country is ruled by a monarchy with a strong militaristic-nationalist government. You have a very small, but well-trained military. The economy of your country is extremely undeveloped(basic) and lacks (missing much) industrialization. It depends almost entirely upon agricultural exports (products you sell to other countries), which include wheat, sugar, fruit and wine. Therefore, most people make a living off of (make money through) farming.

Until recently, Caldonia experienced no domestic unrest (problems in the country). However, in the last year, striking workers (those who refuse to work unless treated better) have used violence to press their demands. Your government’s response has been restrained (limited) since the right to political disagreement is important to your country’s belief in freedom of speech.

Morovia is a monarchy with two legislative (law making) branches. Decisions about foreign affairs (what happens in other countries), and the armed forces (military) are decided by the monarchy and a few select imperial ministers (diplomats). Recently the army began influencing the monarchy to embrace an aggressive domestic policy towards squashing nationalistic movements within the empire (make laws in the country to stop nationalist protesting and uprising). Nationalistic movements have become a very disruptive issue and caused general concern among the majority of Morovians. Morovia’s economy depends on its agricultural products, and has limited (weak) industrial development in only two regions within their large empire (meaning industry is limited). Agriculture is labor intensive (not very mechanized or advanced) and inefficient.

The army has a direct personal allegiance (loyalty) to the monarchy and has important input (say) into the formation of foreign policy. The army is also the strongest army in the world. Patriotism dominates society and many people in the country want to build a Penlandian empire stretching from one coast to the other (want to dominate the whole continent). You used to control Bahkan, but your past leadership granted them peaceful independence. Your country’s economy has experienced amazing growth in the last 40 years. Penland possesses all the qualities of an industrial superpower: rich natural resources, excellent transportation, and a highly educated workforce. However, you lack (are missing) an abundance (large amount) of money and employ (use) old-fashioned farming methods which make your country dependent on importing (getting from other countries) many food staples.

Although Sandia’s population comprises (is made of) a variety of ethnicities, the domestic policy (rules within your country) towards all non-Sandians has been the imposition (forcing of) of Sandian language and culture. Political rights have been repressed (denied) as well by a monarch who believes in the divine right to rule (power to rule comes by God). The economic development of your country is unbalanced with industry and agriculture concentrated in only one region. Sandia has a very large, but poorly trained military.

Yorkton isa democratic government with a multi-house legislature (law makers). Decisions related to the armed forces (military), diplomacy, and war is subject to the legislature (depends on what the law makers want). Politically, the country is split between strong nationalistic and an anti-militarism spirit. Yorkton has a decent size military; however its strength is only fair. Yorkton has been pursuing a policy of imperial expansions for over 40 years, mostly in Asia and Africa. The economy is predominantly agricultural and the lack of raw materials meant industrialization was slow.
