WW1 Poster Project

Please choose a stance and complete one of the projects below. This poster project is worth 25 points. (Poster 10 pts., Written Analysis 10 pts., and Content 5 pts.)

1. Anti-War Painting and Poetry

a. Create an artwork and poem in the style of Sig Bang Schmidt and Steve Dalachinsky. (Do an internet search on the anti-war art and poetry of Sig Bang Schmidt and Steve Dalachinsky to see their work.) Your artwork and poetry MUST be related to WWI.

b. Compose a minimum one page description and analysis of your art and poetry. Explain why you chose certain images, colors, formatting, symbolism, imagery, etc. This must be in MLA format!

2. Propaganda Poster

a. Design a propaganda poster* to help encourage people to enlist to serve in WW1. You may wish to choose a specific country to represent. Therefore, your poster should be appropriate for the country you choose. Keep in mind colors, symbols, slogans, etc. Obviously, American posters probably did not use black, red, and gold (the colors of the German flag) as color combinations.
b. Write a minimum one page description and analysis of your propaganda poster. Explain why you chose certain images, colors, formatting, symbolism, imagery, etc. and why you feel it would encourage people to enlist. This must be in MLA format!
