WTS Senator Scott White Memorial Scholarship

The Senator Scott White Memorial Scholarship was established in spring 2012 by the Puget Sound Chapter of WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths related to public policy or public administration in transportation or a related field.

Senator White was a dedicated leader with an incredible devotion to public service. His focus on representing constituents on issues that matter, such as transportation and education, was evident in his involvement and leadership on key regional decisions and policies that moved transportation forward in the Puget Sound region. He was a rising leader with promise to continue in public service and help engage fellow elected officials and the public in important regional transportation projects. Senator White’s accomplishments and accolades in the public policy field are many and serve as inspiration for future generations to pursue similar career paths.

The Senator Scott White Memorial Scholarship supports the WTS goal of fostering the development of women in the public policy sector of the transportation field. The Scholarship is in the amount of $5,000. The minimum criteria for selection are as follows:

a. Open to women

b. GPA of 3.0 or higher

c. Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in field fostering development of public policy and/or public administration in a transportation-related field

d. Plans to pursue a career related to policy or public administration in a transportation-related field

e. Is a Washington State resident, is attending a college in Washington State, or has an internship in Washington State.

The scholarships are competitive and based on the applicant's specific transportation goals, academic record and transportation-related activities or job skills. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply.
