Writing Assignment for The Book Thief

This writing assignment should be typed in MLA format. Please title each assignment using the main book section/chapter (not the sub section). For example:

Part One: The Grave Digger’s Handbook

  1. Choose a significant quote from each of the ten sections and type it, double-spaced with the page number in ( ).
  2. This quote should be one that speaks to you through the figurative language in the quote.
  3. Respond below your quote in 100 words. There are two parts to your response. (1) What drew you to this quote? Why do you feel it is important to the text? And (2) Explain the figurative langue used. You must name it: simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, etc. Why is this figurative language important to this passage/the plot?
  4. You may not respond without discussing the figurative language. Please make sure you have included both parts in your assignment.
  5. You will have ten in total for each of the ten sections. Each section is due the day of the quiz for that section. There is no re-do for these ten papers. Look at the example on my blog or the examples on my wall.
