The Appleton Schools offer group instruction during the school day on the following instruments.

You can choose from:

Violin Viola Cello Bass

Details on the back! If you would like to sign up, please attend one of the parent meetings (see back for details), fill out the registration form and return it to school by Friday, September 11th.

·  The Appleton Area School District offers group lessons during the school day on violin, viola, cello and bass, beginning in the 4th grade.

One 30 minute small group and one 30 minute large group lessons are scheduled per week. Students will be pulled together for their lessons during their regular classes and sometimes recess.

·  There is no fee for the lessons, but you will need to provide your own instrument and materials.

Instruments are available for rental from area music dealers such as Heid Music and StringWorks (online). The instruments come in various sizes. Be sure you take your child with you to the shop to determine the appropriate size.

·  District cellos and basses are available to rent for $100 for the school year.

We strongly discourage purchasing inexpensive instruments from the internet. They are usually difficult to play and have a very inferior tone quality.

·  There is an expectation of practicing and making progress!

Groups are large and Appleton has a tradition of fine music-making in the schools. It is expected that all students will practice 5 days per week to enjoy regular progress and to support their classmates’ progress.

Thursday, September 10th @ 6:30 pm - Madison Middle School Auditorium
