Our sold out Holy Spirit Presents fall event was very successful! We are excited to announce that our profit will be over $29,000! That is an increase of over $6000 from last year! Way to go Holy Spirit Parish! We thank you so much for all your help and support.

It’s not too early to begin thinking about holiday gift shopping. What is the perfect way to get everyone on your list exactly what they want? A gift card to their favorite store! And the perfect place to get gift cards is Holy Spirit School’s Bonus Bucks program! We have many local and national cards available that would be very nice gifts. Mary Moore-Wingerter will be in the parish center Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 with Bonus Bucks for sale. Come and visit and see what is available!

Christian Service

Sr. Catherine Kinsella, O.P. 452-6491ex. 204

Justice Notes: “See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God” (1 John 3:1) As “children of God” we are called to respond to those beloved daughters and sons presently living lives of poverty or injustice. We must give some of what we want to those most in need. We naturally respond to any family member if one is sick or in need. God’s family should do no less. The document called “Communities of Salt and Light” published by US Catholic Bishops states: “Our parish communities are measured by how they serve “the least of these” in our parishes and beyond its boundaries-the homeless, the hungry, the stranger, and those in prison. We cannot proclaim the gospel if its message is not reflected in our own community life.

St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry: Thanks to all who have contributed to the Food Collection box at the church entrance. 96 bags (425 lbs.) of food, 12 blankets and books for the jail were donated. Your support is appreciated!

Parish Relief Program: Thanks to those parishioners who support our Parish Relief Program. Your contributions are used to respond to a variety of requests made by people who contact us seeking assistance for themselves and their families. Contributions received in October totaled $150.00. We responded to requests that came to a total of $660.

Equal Exchange Coffee and Fair trade Products: We will be selling our Fair Trade products in the Parish Social Hall following all Masses this weekend. Through this project, farmers earn a fair price for their products and are able to invest in education, health care, and agricultural improvements. Thanks for your faithful support of this Christian Service project.

Parish Nurse Notes: Our Parish Nurses will offer a Blood Pressure Clinic in the Parish Social Hall this Sunday following our 11:00 Liturgy. Prayer Shawls are available from our Parish Nurses. You may call the Parish Office if you know someone who would appreciate receiving one. Parish Nurses will meet next Sunday, November 8th at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Conference Room.

Recycling: This weekend is recycling drop-off (one half hour before and after Masses). We now have a nice green bin for flattened cardboard, located on Sts. P&P parking lot. Remember you can recycle plastic at Wal-mart. You donated over 2,000 lbs of newspaper in September. If you can give as little as 30 minutes of your time, we need volunteers, especially for 4:30 and 11:00 masses. Call Cindy O’Connell 761-6438.

Thank you to all who helped make our Fall dinner a great success!! Winners of the raffle: 1st – Rosemary Liston, 2nd – Mike Frenick, 3rd – Lillian Cotter, 4th – Kasha Wood, 5th – Jackie Knox
