World Views POWERPOINT Research Project
Choose a topic that we have not already discussed and tested over in class this year. Some suggestions are listed below.
- Death penalty
- Government regulation of the internet
- Embryonic stem cell research
- Homosexuals adopting children
- Displaying religious items (e.g. cross, manger scene) on public property
- The right to home school children
- Death tax
- Euthanasia
- Government controlled healthcare coverage, hospitals, medical treatment, etc.
- Laws requiring baby/child seats in vehicles
- Legalization of marijuana
- Illegal immigrants receiving government help (i.e. hospitalization, public schools)
- Wearing religious t-shirts in public schools
- Government regulation of scenes and language on television
- Eminent domain (government requiring people to sell their land for new construction of highways, shopping malls, etc.)
- Prosecuting 16 year olds as an adult
- 21 years old as the legal drinking age
- US troops fighting under the command of the United Nations
- Assisted suicide
- Gun control
- U.S. involvement in the Middle East
- Gay-marriage discrimination
- Homeschooling rights
- Religious clubs at public universities
1. Prepare a Powerpoint presentation of bulleted information to communicate your research findings. I suggest you not waste time with Powerpoint until you have researched and noted on paper or word processing your outline and information
2. Use the following to guide your research and bulleted outlines:
- Background information – make sure everyone understands the topic
- Claims of both sides of the argument
- Data, statistics, or facts that bolster your opinion
3. Since this is a Powerpoint project not a term paper, statements and facts must be pithy. No paragraphs are allowed. Graphics can be used for visual effects and to “dress up” the presentation, but they will not affect one’s grade.
4. There is no requirement for the length, but thoroughness is required to receive a good grade. Some topics could be covered well in about 4-5 slides. Pictures and graphics may be used to enhance your presentation, but you will be graded on the knowledgeable content, not the design.
