ThetechnicalregulationsoftheWorldTimeAttackChallenge aredesignedtoensurethehighestlevelofsafety. Alldriversandvehiclesmustcomply withallwritten andoraldirectionsoftheevent promotersand/or CAMS.Failuretocomply mayresultinimmediateexclusionfromtheevent,with norefundofentryfees.
- PREAMBLE
i. Each automobilemustremainincompliancewithallprovisionsofthetechnicalregulations contained herein andrelevantCAMSsportingregulationsatalltimesduringtheevent.Vehiclesmaybechecked forcompliance atanytimethroughouttheevent,refusaltocomply willresultinpenalty uptoexclusion.
ii. Any aspectrelatingtotheconstruction,modification and/orpreparationofeachautomobilethatisnot specifically authorisedinthese regulationsortherelevantCAMSapproveddocument,isnotpermitted.
iii.Any freedomspermittedinalowerclassarealsopermittedinthehigherclasses.I.e.IfClubsprintclass allowscarbonbonnetallotherclasses canalsouseacarbonbonnetalongwithadditionalfreedoms documentedineachcategory.
- VEHICLES
i.Allvehiclesmustbearecognisedmodelfromavehiclemanufacturer(seedefinitions).
ii. OpenWheelvehicles,Clubman,Kitcarsandcentre-steeredvehiclesareNOTpermitted,as determined bythePromoter.
iii.Allvehiclesmusthaveonly four (4)wheelswiththesteeringacting onthefrontwheelsonly unlessrear wheelsteeringisoriginally fitted,inwhichcasetheoriginalsystemmayremain.
iv.Vehiclesmayonly contain oneengine.
C. DRIVERSAFETYAPPAREL
C.1Asaminimum,driversarerequiredtowearthefollowingwhichmustbepresented forinspection atpre- event scrutiny:
i.HelmetscomplyingwithaminimumAS1698 oraspertherequirementsoftheorganisersofthe event.Mustbein goodconditionwithoutanyperforationstotheoutersurface.
ii.Footwear,socksandglovesmadefromflameretardantmaterialcomplyingwithFIA8856-2000.
iii.Inopencars,gogglesoravisorwithalensmaterialotherthanglass(i.e.toAS1609-1981)are mandatory.
C.2 Clubsprint:
i.Non-flammableclothingextendingfromnecktowrist toankles(apparelofnylon orsimilarmaterial isforbidden).
C.3 OpenandPro:
i.Onepiecedrivingsuitsmadefromflameretardantmaterialcomplyingwith atleastFIA1986.
ii.Underwear,recommendedtobemadetoFIAstandard.
iii.AbalaclavacomplyingwithFIA8856-2000mustbeworn.
iv.Theuseofafrontalheadrestraint(e.g.HANS)incompliancewithCAMS Schedule D - Appareliscompulsory inProClassandisstrongly recommendedinOpen Class.
- COMPETITIONS
Theevent willcomprisefourcompetitions:
D.1 Clubsprint:
i.Designedtobetheentrylevelclassfor WorldTimeAttackwithmodificationrestrictionsandtyre limitstocontaincosts.
ii. Professionaldriversasdetermined bytheorganisersarenotpermittedinClubsprintclass.
iii.Supercarsasdetermined bythevehiclelistwithinthese regulationsarenotpermitted.
iv.AllvehiclesmustusetheAdvanAD08Neovacontroltyre.
v. AllvehiclesinClubsprintClassmustcarrycurrentroadregistration.Rally registrationisacceptable.
Instateswhererally regoisnotavailable anunregisteredvehiclepermitisrequired.
D.2 OpenClass:
i.Further freedomsallowedbeyondClubsprintclass,whilstretainingsome restrictionsbelowPro class vehicles.
ii. Driversmustbenominated ontheentryformandmaynotdrivemorethantwocarswithinthisclass.
iii.AllvehiclesmustuseAdvanA050Controltyre.
D.3 ProAmClass:
i. Anewandexcitingclassfor2013designedfortheownersofProorOpen classcarstocompete without thepresenceofProfessionaldriversasdetermined bytheorganisers.
ii. RefertothevehiclemodificationfreedomsallowedforProclass.AllrulesareasperProClasswith theexceptionofthedriver rule.Entryisbyapplication.
iii.AllvehiclesmustuseAdvanA050Controltyre.
D.4 ProClass:
i. ThehighestlevelofTimeAttackracingforprofessionalteams.Additionalfreedomsareallowed beyondOpenclass.
ii.Proclassisbyinvitationonly byapplicationtotheorganisers.Invitationswillbeatthesole discretionofthepromoter.

E. VEHICLEMODIFICATIONS
AllVehiclesmustbepresentedasoriginally manufactured(seedefinitions)apart fromthefreedoms allowedinthese regulations.
FURTHERNOTE
Any vehiclesthatdonotmeet thedefinitionslistedwillneedtobeconsidered onacase-by- casebasis. Ifyourvehicledoesnothave shocktowers,framerails,oranyotheritemslisted oryouareunclear(for exampleavehiclewhichcameequippedwithpushrodsuspension) youmustsubmityourvehiclemodificationsforapproval.
E.1 BODY
Allconvertibletypevehiclesmustbeequippedwithahardtoporarollcagethatcomplies withCAMSStandingRegulations,and/ormeetstheapprovaloftheChiefScrutineer.
E.1.a Clubsprint:
i. AlternativematerialsarepermittedfortheFrontBar,Bonnet,SideSkirts,Rear BarandBoot providedtheyfollowthesameshapeastheoriginalpart.
ii. Alternativematerialsarepermittedforfrontandrearflares.
iii.LocalisedmodificationsofOEMfenderstoallowfitmentofthecontroltyre.
iv.OEMfendersmustbeoforiginalmaterialhoweverflareextensionsarepermittedtocover controltyre.
v.Thetop1/3ofthetyremustnotprotrudeoutsidetheguard/flarewhenthewheelsarefacing forwards.
vi. Theremainderofthevehicle bodymustremainasoriginalfromthemanufacturer.(Nowide bodykits)
E.1.b Open:

iii.Originaltaillightsmustberetainedinoriginalposition andmustbevisiblefrom rear(cannot bedecals).Theadditionofasingleworking brakelightmaybefittedasaminimumiforiginal lightsareinoperable.

E.2.CHASSIS
i. Allvehiclesmustretaintheoriginalfirewall.
ii. Modifications canbemadefortransmissionclearance,wiring orrollcage,howeverthe resultingbulkheadmustresembletheoriginalandcontinuetobebothstructuralandcreate sealbetweentheforwardareaandthecockpit.Any replacementmaterialmustbeofthe samethicknessastheoriginalfirewallandofsimilarmaterial(e.g.,steelforsteel,aluminium foraluminium).
iii.Originalshocktowers mustberetained.
iv.Nofullytubularconstruction orcompositemonocoquesareallowed.
E.2.a Open:
i. Therearmostpartoftheengineblock maybenomorethan2inchesrearwardofthemost forwardpointofthefirewall.Ifthevehicleisrearengine, thefrontmostpartoftheengine block maybenomorethan2inchesforwardofthemostrearpointofthemainly vertical firewall
ii.TheFirewallmaybemodifiedforclearanceofenginebutmustremaininoriginalposition.
iii. Aftermarketsubframesarepermittedtobeusedprovidedtheyareboltedin.
iv. Wheelarch"tubbing"withthesolepurpose ofprovidingclearancefortyresonfullbumpis permittedfrontandrear
E.2.b Pro:
i.Composite/Carbonfibrematerials canbeusedonly innon-structuralcomponentsunless originally fitted.
ii. Forward retentionoftheoriginalchassis:
iii. Originalframerails(seedefinitions)andshocktowers mustberetainedfromtheupper portionoftheshocktowersandback. Modificationsareallowedsolely fortheadditionor relocationofsuspensionpickupgeometry.
iv.Rear retentionoftheoriginalchassis:
v. Originalfloorpanandframerailsmustberetainedfromthefirewalltotheforwardmostpoint oftherearwheelarch.Allowanceforremovalmaterialforfitmentoffuelorfluidtanksand associatedfittingsispermitted
vi.Modificationsareallowedonly asneededforexhaust,driveshaftclearance,mountingofroll cage,seatorothersafety items. Undernocircumstances cananyportionoftheframerailsor floorpanberemovedormodifiedfromtherearofthedriver'sseatforwardtothefirewall exceptasrequiredforexhaustclearance, transmissionclearance, tail-shaftclearance orthe detailedadditionofbushesorbracketsinmounting undersurfaces.
E.3.MINIMUMVEHICLEWEIGHTS
Minimumweightwillbedeemed toincludeallliquidtanksatnormallevelsandwithamaximumof5 litresoffuel. Allweightsarewithoutdriver.Alvehicleweightsmustbebasedona"production vehiclestatus"andnota"factory special"withaminimumof500ofthevehicleproducedworldwide.Minimum weights for vehicles is detailed in Appendix A – Vehicle Weights Table
E.3.a Clubsprint:
MinimumweightforClubsprintwillbedetermined bythemanufacturer'soriginal specificationsforthelightestversionofthatparticularmodelofvehicle,minus5%.E.g.MitsubishiLancerEvo9notmerely MitsubishiLancer.Vehicleswithoriginalweight exceeding 1500kg willnotapply the5%rule butwillhaveaminimumallowedcompetition weightof1425kg.
E.3.b Open:
MinimumweightforOpenClasswillbedetermined bythemanufacturer'soriginal specificationsforthelightestversionofthatparticularmodelofvehicle,minus15%.E.g.MitsubishiLancerEvo9notmerely MitsubishiLancer.Vehicleswithoriginalweight exceeding 1500kgwillnotapply the15%rule butwillhaveaminimumallowedcompetition weightof1275kg.
E.3.c Pro:
c.MinimumweightforProClasswillbedetermined bythemanufacturer'soriginal specificationsforthelightestversionofthatparticularmodelofvehicle,minus20%.E.g.MitsubishiLancerEvo9notmerely MitsubishiLancer.Vehicleswithoriginalweight exceeding 1500kg willnotapply the20%rule butwillhaveaminimumallowedcompetition weightof1200kg.
E.4.ROLLOVERPROTECTION
E.4.a Clubsprint:
Rolloverprotectionisstrongly recommendedforClubsprint.
E.4.b OpenandPro:
Rolloverprotectioniscompulsory andmustbeofaminimum6-pointconstructionthatcomplies withCAMSregulations,and/ormeetstheapprovaloftheChiefScrutineer.
E.5.AERODYNAMICAIDS
Allaerodynamicadditionsmustbewithinthebodyparametersoutlinedfortherelevant vehicleclass.
Strengthandmethodofaero componentfasteningwillbecheckedthoroughly at scrutineering andiffoundtobeunsuitablethevehiclewillnotbepermittedtostartuntil improvementsaremadetomeet approvaloftheChiefScrutineer.
Active aeroincludeshydraulically orelectronically actuatedormovablecomponentsarenot permittedin anyclass.
Allmeasurementshaveatoleranceof+/-3mmtoallowforinaccuracy ofhandmeasurement andthermalexpansion.
Itispermittedtofit thefollowing:
E.5.a Clubsprint:
i.Frontunder tray/splittermustfollowtheoutlineofthefrontbarandmayextend50mmahead ofthevehiclesbodywork,nofurtherrearwardthanthefrontaxle andnowiderthanthefront OEMguards.
ii.Frontcanards/wingletsarepermitted butmustnotextendwiderthan50mmbeyondOEMcoachwork.
iii.OEMrearwingsoraftermarketrearwingswith uptotwoseparateelementsmaybeusedin anunmodifiedform.Thewidthofthewingmustnotexceedthewidestpartofthebody.Only oneaftermarketwing pervehicleispermitted.
iv.Rear wingmustbefittedas suchtobeoverthebodyorbootinplanview,exceptincaseofa hatchback,therearwingassembly isonly requiredtobegin overthebody. Noportionofthe wingcanbehigherthanthehorizontallinefromthehighestpointoftheroofexceptinthe caseofahatchbackwherethewingcanbenohigherthan150mmfromthehighestpointof thewingtotheroofline andmustbeontherearportionoftheroof.
v.Reardiffuser/under traymustnotextendbeyondthevehiclesbodyworkandforwardonly to therearaxle.
vi. Aftermarketsidemirrorsarepermitted.
E.5.b Open:
i.Frontunder tray/splittermustfollowtheoutlineofthefrontbarandmayextendonly 150mm beyondtheoriginalcoachworklongitudinally forward. It canextendrearwardstothefront axlecenterline.
ii.Frontaeroispermitted butmustnotextendhigherthanthetopofthebonnetor100mm beyondthevehicle bodyworkatitsclosestpoint;whicheverissmallest.
iii. Frontcanards/wingletsarepermitted butmustnotextendmorethan75mmbeyondthe coachwork andmustremainwithinthemaximumvehiclewidthdefinedinsectionE1vehicle modifications -Body
iv. Rear Wingassembly designisfree andmayhaveuptotwoelements. It mustextendno higherthanthehorizontallinefromthehighestpointoftheroof,nowiderthan100mm per sidewiderthanthebodywidth and100mmfurtherrearwardthantheoriginalcoachwork exceptinthecaseofahatchbackwhere thewingcanbenohigherthan250mmfromthe highestpointofthewingtotheroofline andmustbeontherearportionoftheroof.
v. Endplatesaremeasured separately withamaximumthicknessof10mm.
vi. Reardiffuser/undertraymayextendupto100mmbeyondthevehiclesbodyworkandforward only totherearaxle.
vii. Originalunder bodyfloorbetweentheaxlesisrequired,noflatbottoms,diffusers,etc.may extendforwardoftherearaxle oraftofthefrontaxle.
E.5.c Pro:
i.Frontundertray/splitter mayextendupto300mm forwardofthevehiclesbodywork.

E.6.ENGINE
i.Allvehiclesmustuseunleaded orE85fuel. Fueladditivesarenotpermitted.
ii. Enginechangesduringtheevent arepermittedsubject totheapprovaloftheChiefScrutineer.
iii. Nitroussystemsarenotpermitted.
E.6.a Clubsprint:
Engine modifications are free except that vehiclesmustretain anenginefromtheOEMmanufacturerofthatvehicle andthenumberof cylindersmustremainasperOEMhowevertheuseofaturbocharger orsuperchargeris allowed.Forexampleifthevehicleis aToyotathatcamewithafourcylinderenginethe vehiclecanbefittedwith anyToyota4cylinderenginethatcanalsouseforcedinduction.
E.6.b OpenPro:
i.Enginemodificationsarefreesavefortheenginemustbebased on aproduction enginefromarecognisedvehicle manufacturer.
ii.Thecrankshaftcentrelinemaybelowered.Theenginepositioning andmountsbeingfree providedthatitsrelationshiptothefirewallisnotexceededasinrule2(seechassis)
E.7 EXHAUST
Thecompleteexhaustsystemmaybemodified orreplaced as per:
E.7.a Clubsprint:
Theexhaustmustexitwithin 100mm oftheoriginallocation andshallnotprotrudemorethan100mmbeyondtherearmostportionofthebodywork.
E.7.b OpenandPro:
Forrearwardfacingexhausttheoutlet(s)shallbebetween75mmand450mmabovethe ground andwithin 100mmlongitudinally oftherearofthebodywork.Iftheexhaustisdirectedsidewaystheoutlet(s)mustbelocatedrearwardofthemidpointofthewheelbase andshall notprojectbeyondthemaximumwidthofthevehiclesbodyworkorterminatemorethan50mminwardsofthecoachwork.Asideexitexhaustmustexitinadirection awayfromthe centrelineofthevehicle.
E.8.TRANSMISSION, DIFFERENTIALAND DRIVELINE
i.Clutchesandflywheelarefree.
ii.Gearboxanddifferentialmaybereplaced byanotheroffreedesign.
iii. Internalcomponentsoftransmission anddifferentialarefree.

iv.Minimum rideheightsapply aslistedbelow. Eachfullysprungpartoftheautomobilemust beatleast thespecifiedheightabovethegroundwhenmeasured atanypointwithinthe wheelbase.Theautomobilerideheightwillbemeasured without thedriverandtyre pressuresataminimumof20psi.
v. Swaybarsarefree.
Allmeasurementshave atoleranceof+/-3mmtoallowforinaccuracy ofhandmeasurement andthermalexpansion.

F.VEHICLE SAFETY
Allvehiclesmustbeequippedwiththefollowing:
i. Handheldfireextinguisher(s)of2kgcapacity asaminimum,aFire bombisalsorecommended.
ii. Twoseparatefastenersofadequatestrengthandlimitedextensibility whichsimultaneously holdanyfrontopeningpanelclosed.
iii. Ablue battery triangletoidentify battery location.
iv. Afrontreartowpointclearly marked.
v.Allforwardfacingglasslensestobecoveredbyaprotectivefilm.
vi.Anapproved5or6pointsafety harnessmountedasperCAMSregulations(exceptClubsprint wherea4pointharnessisacceptableasaminimum).
vii.Adriver'sseatfromarecognisedmanufacturerthatallows correctfitmentoftheharness.
viii. Workingoriginalbrake lights(exceptPro).
ix.Itisadvisablethatallvehiclesbeequippedwithabatteryisolation(master)switch,which effectively isolatesallelectricalcircuitsfromthebattery andstopstheengine.
F.1.a Pro:
i.Atleastonerearviewmirrororcamera.
ii. Asinglemidmountedbrakelightofacceptablesizeasaminimum.
F.2SCRUTINYREQUIREMENTS
a)Alllooseobjectstoberemovedfromvehicle.
