COURSE OBJECTIVE: TO EXPLORE THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF PEOPLE, PLACES, AND PATTERNS OF LIFE.

HOMEWORK: Vocabulary—which must be handwritten in a composition notebook and Padlet must be completed for each unit. The assignments will be posted on Google Classroom.

CLASSROOM POLICY:

1.  Behavior is expected to be appropriate for the classroom.

2.  Students are expected to be in their seats when the bell sounds. The bell does not dismiss the students, the teacher does.

3.  No disrespect to the teacher/s, adults or other students will be tolerated. Students will not interrupt the teachers’ instruction or interfere with student learning (i.e., disruptive talking and activities are prohibited and will result in disciplinary action by the teacher)

4.  Sleeping is NOT permitted. If I cannot see a student’s eyes then that student is considered sleeping.

5.  Students that do not control their behavior or who become disruptive will be removed from class and sent to their respective principal.

6.  Students are not to groom themselves in the classroom. All makeup, brushes, mirrors, lotion, ect. are not to be used in the classroom.

7.  The use of profanity will not be tolerated by any student.

8.  NO electronic devices should be seen or heard!!! They will be confiscated and returned only when a parent comes to collect it. NO, you may not listen to your music while you do class work!

9.  No assignment should ever be plagiarized. Everything should be in your own words. Failure to do so will result in a zero for the assignment.

GRADING: GRADES ARE WEIGHTED AS FOLLOWS:

TEST AVERAGE 40%

QUIZ AVERAGE 30%

CLASSWORK 20%

HOMEWORK AVERAGE 10%

If a student does not understand some aspect of their assignment then they are required to contact me before the assignment is due, not the day of.

MAKE UP WORK: Students absent from school will have five days from the time they return to complete all make up work. If a student is not absent and he/she does not have their assignments then the student shall receive a zero for that assignment. If a student must make up a quiz or a test then it is the responsibility of the student to make arrangements with the teacher. IF A STUDENT IS ABSENT DUE TO A FIELD TRIP, THE STUDENT MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS BEFORE THE FIELD TRIP TO MAKE UP THEIR WORK!!!! NO WORK WILL BE MADE UP DURING CLASS TIME OR DURING LUNCH!

TEACHER’S HOURS: I am available for extra instruction or make up work before school and after school. I have an open door policy and want every student to enjoy academic success in my class. Please bring any relevant concerns that you may have to my attention as soon as you are able. I will do my best to help with your situation.

MATERIALS: All students must have a three ringed binder, composition notebook, pen, pencil and a two pocket folder with prongs.
