[General Description of the Programme]
COURSE OUTLINE (ESP 4122/ESP 7129)
One of the most prevalent categories of special needs in Namibian schools is Specific Learning Difficulties. This course will aim at providing students with skills and competencies for understanding and helping learners with learning problems in the regular classroom. In addition, the course is aimed at providing students with competencies to identify and to assess children’s special educational needs; acquire problem-solving abilities in the context of inclusive education and equip students with knowledge and various instructional strategies to help learners with learning problems in school and at home.
COURSE OUTLINE (ESP 3400)
Duration of Course: Semester 1 after TP, and Semester 2.
Course Objectives:
·  To provide students with an overview of theories and classroom practices to children with special needs in general.
·  To allow students to reflect on the concept of inclusive education, and share with them strategies that might enhance inclusive practices in schools and society.
·  To give students theories, practices and modalities of effective schools.
·  To give students theoretical and practical approaches to learners with Specific Learning Difficulties.
