  • Managing multiple windows
  • To toggle through the list of windows open on your desk top, hold down <Alt> key and press <Tab> repeatedly until the desired window is selected, then release both keys.
  • To navigate through multiple windows within a specific program, such as Orbis, MS Words, etc., click on the Window menu, a list of open windows will be displayed. The window that is currently open is the one with the check mark √ next to it. Click on the desired window to retrieve it.
  • Basic Internet Explorer Techniques
  • Book-marking / Storing favorite sites: Book-marking the Internet sites you use frequently saves time for the future, because you do not have to type in the URL again.
  1. While the Website you want to bookmark displays on the screen, click on Favorites | Add to Favorites menu.
  1. You may change the name of the site to fit your needs, then click OK
  1. You can rearrange the order of the list by dragging and dropping an item to the disired location.
  1. You can also organize the Favorites list by clicking on Favorites | Organize Favorites menu.
  1. When you want to access the site again, click on Favorites menu and select the site from the list.
  • Creating shortcuts: Creating shortcuts on your computer desktop is another timesaving technique. This way you can go to the site directly without opening the Internet Explorer first.
  1. While the Website you want to creat a shortcut for displays on the screen, right-click anywhere on the screen (but avoid images) to get the popup menu.
  1. Select “Create Shortcuts”; a window will popup to confirm that the shortcut will be placed on the desktop; click OK.
  1. When you want to access the site again, simply click on the shortcut icon on your desktop.
  • Using PowerPoint to view slides
  1. Double-click on the provided link or file name to open the file.
  1. Depending on individual files, the slide show might start automatically, in which case, you can run through the slides one-by-one by clicking the mouse. To navigate back and forth or to close the slide show, right-click the mouse (or click on the transparent icon on the lower right corner of the screen) to get the popup menu, then select the desired action from the menu.
  1. If you do not have the slide show right away and see a list of slides on the left-hand side of the screen instead, click on the slide show icon at the lower right corner of the screen (or click on the View | Slide Show menu) to run the slide show. Follow step 2 above to navigate through the slides.
  • How to find IP address:
  1. Click on the Start button then the IPfinder icon
  2. It will display you machine ID and the IP address.
