We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to bring internationally renowned Gray Poenhell to Mount Gambier to lead two workshops in which we will explore various aspects of how we, as individuals, can shape our career pathways and how we, as practitioners, can support others in their career development.

Gray Poenhell is an experienced career consultant with an interest in holistic approaches that cultivate hope, practical spirituality, creativity, imagination and career integrity. Along with Dr. Norm Amundson from Ergon Communications, he has developed numerous career – counseling programs. In addition he has written to several workbooks including Hope Filled Engagement, Career Pathways, Career Crossroads, CareerScope and Guiding Circles.

The two workshops offer opportunities for all career practitioners or anyone working with others helping them shape their future. We invite you to attend one or both workshops. (workshops are limited to 20 places)

Hope Filled Engagement

This workshop introduces Hope-Filled Engagement (Poehnell & Amundson).Hope filled engagement is a person-centred, solution focused, hope-focused approach, utilizing tools and processes that combine a holistic worldview (including creativity, spirituality, connectedness, values and life balance) with sound career concepts.

Guiding Circles Workshop

This presentation is for those working with indigenous, immigrant and mainstream clients and students. Guiding Circles is a holistic career development approach that combines a traditional Aboriginal worldview with sound contemporary career/life development strategies. It is being used widely with Aboriginals and non – Aboriginals across Canada; with children, youth and adults in schools, colleges/universities and employment centres – to name a few.

Career Craft

Career Craft is a new paradigm for a new career reality. This new reality, described by such terms as “chaos” and “positive uncertainty”, calls for new approaches which are more holistic, flexible, and creative. This practical workshop will explore the value of looking at career issues from the perspective of “craft” – the “art ofcareer” more than just the “management of career”. This approach emphasizes the synergism of creativity, skill and practically as essential components in “crafting” one’s career.
