2016 LOCAL 14 SHOW INSTRUCTIONS Page 2

ARTWORK CRITERIA:

All artwork must be original and executed within the past 18 months and not previously shown in a LOCAL14 event. If a guest has participated in a previous LOCAL 14 show, work can be of similar design but newly made. All work must be for sale. Work must be of the same medium and quality as represented at the jury. Art that appears substantially inferior to juried work or which violates copyright laws will be removed from display. Also, any work that appears to need repair will not be shown. We will contact you to resolve the situation.

SET-UP AND DISPLAY:

Hanging and display are at the discretion of the Set-Up Committee both before and during the show. Because our show is not a typical booth show, it is important for all individuals to be flexible for the overall presentation of the artwork. Every attempt will be made to present each artist's work in the best way possible.

LOCAL 14 reserves the right to use only portions of the display apparatus submitted on the Display Review Form. While every effort will be made to display artists' work on their own apparatus, the committee reserves the right to display any artwork on any apparatus for the benefit of the show as a whole with the goal of mounting a varied and balanced show.

Individual artists may not use their own signs. LOCAL 14 will provide name cards and cardholders for display of personal business cards.

2D ARTISTS (anyone with artwork on the wall)

In addition to the above guidelines, please read and follow instructions in the Guidelines for 2D Artwork.

It outlines requirements and restrictions for displaying original artwork and reproductions along with detailed instructions for preparing your pieces for hanging, Show Cards, Purchaser Index Cards, etc.

BACK-STOCK and ADDING PIECES DURING THE SHOW:

While larger than our previous venue, the Left Bank Annex still cannot provide everyone all of the display space they would like. LOCAL 14 makes every effort to show members’ and guests’ work effectively within the available space. Extra work will be stored and replenished as space opens up during the show. Please label your back-stock boxes with your last name on all sides and on the top. They will be placed in alphabetical order in the back-stock room.

Additional work may be accepted during the show to replace work that has been sold. Check in with a member of the Set-Up committee to assist in placing pieces for you. Add new items to your inventory lists in the bookkeeping office.

OPTIONAL ITEMS:

·  Purchaser’s Index Card(s): According to OR state law, you are entitled to purchaser information on sales of items over $100. If you want this information, complete and attach a Purchaser Index Card for each appropriate item. You do not need to fill out these cards if you do not want this information. A template is available.

·  Business cards. Bring enough to last the weekend. At the check-in desk, there will be a box in which to place your business cards in alphabetical order for easy re-stocking. Card holders will be provided for you.

·  A guest book & pen to be placed near your artwork.

·  An artist statement including your photo and information about you, your creative inspiration and/or technical processes. Limit size to a partial sheet, if possible, so it does not interfere with you artwork. Statements will be hung next to 2D artwork. Other artists should consider a small easel or other ways to place a statement on shelves, gridwall or other display racks.

·  Postcards for your future shows to be placed on the table in the cash/credit room.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
On all guest artist sales, LOCAL 14 will deduct a 25% commission plus credit card processing fees. Your proceeds will be mailed to you along with your show deposit no later than 30 days after the show.

All sales are processed through LOCAL 14 cashiers. No price changes are allowed during the Art Show. Local 14 does not issue commission refunds on merchandise returned (for whatever reason) to the artist after the show has closed. In that case, the artist should make adjustments with the client.

All artists who make sales within 30 days of the LOCAL 14 show as a direct result of artwork seen at the show shall pay LOCAL 14 the required commission, the same as if the work was actually sold at the show.

LIABILITY:

LOCAL 14 will use the highest degree of care concerning the works of art in its possession. Per contract, the artist agrees that works of art are not in LOCAL 14's possession during delivery to or removal from the Left Bank Annex by the artist. LOCAL 14 takes great care to protect artwork from the time it is delivered until it is picked up after the show. Despite such care and our insurance for major loss or damage, LOCAL 14 does not guarantee artwork against every loss, damage or destruction. Artists are urged to carry their own insurance. If for any reason LOCAL 14 should be found liable for loss or damage, the amount paid to the artist shall be the sales price as listed on the artist’s inventory list less the normal 25% commission.
