Vocalus

Work Experience Programme

Vocalus’ ‘Work Experience Programme’ is designed for job seekers, apprentices, undergraduate students, postgraduates and young professionals aged 16+ who have EU (European Union), EEA (European Economic Area) or PACs (Pre-Accession Countries) nationality and are interested in work experience relevant to their educational background, previous training and vocational skills.

Objectives

The main objective of a ‘Work Experience Programme’ is to provide participants with an international professional outlook, which builds on the knowledge they have already acquired, or are acquiring, in their own countries. In order to achieve this objective successfully, we organise intensive, specialised English language courses as part of the Work Experience Programme. Such programmes last a minimum of 4 weeks and up to 48 weeks in companies or organisations in the U.K.. In addition, social and cultural programmes provide participants with a broader knowledge of their new environment.

Participation

The minimum duration of a Work Experience Programme is 4 weeks and the maximum is 48 weeks. All participants work a maximum of eight hours a day, five days a week. However, timetables are adapted to the requirements and work patterns of companies. All participants undertake to carry out unpaid work and should bear in mind that they are engaged in ‘work experience’ and not in the position of an ordinary, contracted employee. Consequently, they will not sign a contract but an ‘agreement’, which regulates their training and conduct. Once participants have started their work experience, their companies or organisations will be contacted regularly in order to have an update on their progress. Also, Vocalus representatives will meet participants, so that any problems that might arise can be resolved. Furthermore, additional support and careers information on a UK and EU level is available at Vocalus.

An E128 form allows the (EU) participants to obtain free medical assistance in UK. Private insurance covers travel, medical issues, accidents and loss
