Meeting 1-27-09

The meeting was called to order at 7:05. Pete asked if it were possible to start posting the minutes to the website. The minutes will be emailed to Mike and he will post them. The spring Season will run from April 19 – May 31 for both leagues any make up games (for weather only) will be on June 7. The U14 Boys coach has not been finalized yet but there are some names out there. WSA will be declaring the following teams for the spring Boys: 2 – U9, 1 – U10 , 1 – U11/12, 1- U12 & 1 – U14, Girls: 2- U10, 1-U11, 1-U12, 1-U14. Pete will make arrangements to book Fred Meindl again for the spring, also health point will need to know how many of our teams are interested in their training. The MIST Tournament will be the first weekend in June. There will be a D Licensing course held in Wooster, the first weekend March 13 -15 will be held indoors at the Gault, the second weekend April 3 -5 will be outdoors at the fields, WSA will reimburse any authorized coaches who take the class.

Parks and Rec:

Jeff Battig reported that the county has approved the development of morefields; in the space that is available we could put up to 3 U10 fields in, no decision yet as to what fields will be put in. If weather permits work could begin this spring and the new fields may be ready by spring of 2010. Field Set up day has been set for March 28th and Spring practices could begin on March 30 if weather permits. Wooster will be hosting a High School Boys and Girls 3 V 3 tournament on May 17. All information concerning Pictures that were taken in the Fall has been handed over to the prosecutor and he does not want to go any further with the case. Jeff was told that we would have to prove intent and that would be difficult. Jeff will check back with the prosecutor’s office and see what if any other options WSA has.

Coaches:

Scholarship Fund- A motion was made that if a child is unable to pay we will pay !00% of their registration fees if they meet the criteria for Rec and Travel Soccer. Kim said she as set up another session with Graham Ford in February, Tentatively set for the 18th from 7:30 – 9:00 pm. All participants from the tryouts have been contacted or the information has been given to the appropriate coaches.

Treasurers Report:

Dan reported that we net of $120.18 over the last three months. On the income side we received a donation from the elks, sponsors of HealthPoint and Pierce’s, Goal Keeper clinic fees and the Rec soccer field supervisors. Expenses were coaching for the U-12 girls, Coaches Training at the Gault and the 3 V 3 tournament expenses (T-Shirts & awards).

No open items. Meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be Tuesday, February 10th at 7:00 pm at the Community Center.
